MALLORY, who was numbered among the most prominent residents of Hawthorne for close to a quarter of a century, died Friday evening (18 Sep) at her home here following an illness of two weeks resulting from heart ailments that had troubled her for years past. John W. MALLORY, her husband and Frank BARLAGE, her son from her first marriage, were with her when the end came. A native of Grass Valley, CA, Mrs MALLORY was 66 years old. She spent her childhood in the Grass Valley area later living in Northern California. For several years she resided in Mono County, CA and from there she removed to Hawthorne in 1912. Throughout her long residence here she was prominetly involved in social work, including the Red Cross during WWI. She also was an active member in the Veterans of Foriegn War Auxillary and American Legion Auxillary, as well as a leader in the Church Service League. It was under the direction of the two service organizations that funeral services were conducted here Sunday afternoon (20 Sep). Commander Floyd CRABTREE of Mineral County post American Legion paid a fitting tribute to deceased. Casketbearers were all friends of the MALLORY family; G.A. McINNIS, Fred WALLACE, Fred PARKER, Joe MALATESTA, W.T. BAKER and Henry BOERLIN. The only surviving relatives are John W.
