MILLER (Jr.), son of a pioneer Hawthorne resident. Mr. MILLER died Monday 2 Oct) in a Reno hospital. He had been under treatment for a heart ailment. He was 66. Rev. Charles POOLE of St. Philip's Episcopal Church in Hawthorne officiated. Organist was Katherine MAYFIELD. Pallbearers were Vearl SEEVERS, Farrell SEEVERS, Otto GERBIG, Arthur NELSON all of Hawthorne and Fay BAKER and Irving NIXON both of Reno. Mr. MILLER is survived by a sister, Mrs. Neva FERRETTI of Hawthorne. He was born in Hawthorne and was the only son of Alvey C. MILLER Sr. who, together with his brother, Senator John H. MILLER, was a prominent leader in the developement of Hawthorne and the creation of Mineral County in 1911. Their mother, Mrs. Marie CRUTCHER arrived in Hawthorne before the town was officially established. Mr. MILLER attended the University of Nevada and served in Europe during WWI. He entered government service in California at the end of the war and retired after WWII to return to Hawthorne.
