STALLARD, 40 years old, died at the Yerington Hospital early Tuesday morning following an operation for appendicitis. Mrs. STALLARD, who was Mary Ruth McCARTHY before her marriage, was born in Reno 7 Nov 1892 (this does not agree with the headstone in Hawthorne Cemetery or the 1900 census which say she was born 1886), and at an early age moved with her parents to Hawthorne, NV where she soent her girlhood. Her father Alfred James McCARTHY was owner of the Walker Lake Bulletin, Mineral County's leading newspaper for many years, and is widely known throughout the state, being one of its oldest printers. Mrs. STALLARD assisted her father on the newspaper until its discontinuance in 1922, when the family moved to Yerington to take over the management of the Yerington Times, a local newspaper. In 1922 she was married to Oscar W. STALLARD of Yerington and since then has lived here and in Orovada, on the Oregon - Nevada line. She is survived by her husband O.W. STALLARD, and one son, Glynn Eugene of Yerington; her fayher A.J. McCARTHY of Reno; sister Rita D. MILLER/MILLAR and a brother J.A. McCARTHY, both of Reno. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge in Hawthorne. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ NV-Old-News ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ NewspaperAbstracts.com - Finding our ancestors in the news!
