Mrs. Mae Fletcher McMAHON, of Mina, a native of Nevada, was dead when the ambulance carrying her arrived at the Mineral County Hospital in Hawthorne a short time after the accident. According to the hospital attendants Mrs. Thomas STEVENS of Hawthorne broke her right arm and received a severe cut on the head in addition to bruises while Mrs. Lola ANDERSON of Hawthorne suffered a deep cut on her hand and other injuries. Thomas STEVENS, driver of the automobile and Virgil BUCHANAN also of Hawthorne were treated for minor cuts and bruises. According to the sheriff's offices investigating the accident, Mr. STEVENS apparently lost control of his Buick sedan on a straight stretch of road while traveling at what a witness called "a high rate of speed". The big automobile came to rest on its roof after skidding and turning over. It was believed that Mrs. McMAHON, a passenger in the back seat, was flung through an open door of the car as it went over. The ambulance was summoned from Hawthorne a few minutes after the accident by a passing motorist. Mrs. McMAHON, who was 66 years old was a resident of Nevada all of her life. She was born at Fletcher Station, 22 miles from Hawthorne over Lucky Boy pass. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry FLETCHER, for years maintained the halfway station at the ranch there for stage coaches running between Hawthorne, Aurora and Bodie. She lived in Yerington for many years and for awhile in California before settling in Mineral County in 1932. For the past ten years sge gas been a resident of Mina. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Josie ROCKWELL of SAnta Barbara, CA, a son, Russell McMAHON of San Francisco, and a brother, Victor FLETCHER of Mina.
