McFadden) Article Text: Hawthorne - JOhn R. McFADDEN, resident of Southern Nevada the past nine years, died at the Mineral County Hospital in Hawthorne Saturday (9 Aug 1941), where he had been a patient for three days. In poor health for several years, Mr. McFADDEN was stricken seriously ill at his home in Mina the fore part of last week and was brought to the hospital here Wednesday. A native of Paterson, MO, Mr. McFADDEN was sixty years old. As a young man he entered the employ of the Union Pacific Railroad Company and became a crane operator. Moving West about 25 years ago he entered the employ of the Oregon Short Line Railroad. His wife died in 1917. In 1932 Mr. McFADDEN moved to Mina and worked at mining camps in the vicinity of that town. He moved to Tonopah in 1935 and worked for three years in that district as a hoist engineer and also did some mine leasing. Returning to Mina in 1935 he was given employment with the WPA and when his health permitted he continued in this employment.
