He was a native of Monroe, LA where he was born 15 MAy 1913. Mr. McNEIL was a production foreman at the NAval Ammunition Depot. Mr. McNEIL cam to Hawthorne in 1946 after serving in the Army from 1943 to 1945 and was employed at the Hawthorne Ammunition Depot for 32 years. At the tim eof his retirement he was an explosives operation leader. As a member of the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Hawthorne Mr. McNEIL served as a Deacon and a Sunday school teacher. He is survived by his widow Hazel Cox McNEIL and a brother George McNEIL, both residents of Hawthorne; a son Gregory McNEIL of Nevada City, CA; brother Luter J. McNEIL of Philadelphia, PA; sisters, Mary SHEPARD of Seattle, WA, Alma BELL of Sacramento and four grandchildren. Services were conducted Saturday afternoon (6 Jan) at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church by the Rev. D. MEADOWS, burial was in the HAwthorne Cemetery.
