"Tex" Hall At Hawthorne Article Text: Hawthorne - Stricken with a heart attack a few moments after eating breakfast Sunday morning, (26 Feb 1939) W.H. "Tex" HALL, a resident of Hawthorne the past ten years, died suddenly at his home at the Golden Willow Ranch 12 miles North of Hawthorne. Present at the time were Mrs. HALL, A. Dal Porto and Harold WRIGHT of Sparks who owns the ranch property where the HALL'S lived. Dr. W.S. SARGENT was summoned from the Naval Depot but upon his arrival at the ranch found HALL had succumbed to the attack. An inquest was held the same day by Coroner A.H. BARLOW and a jury consisting of James CAUGHMAN, W.F. MARCHANT and Ben H. DONNELLY, reported accute heart attack as the cause of death. According to tentative funeral arrangements burial will be in the Hawthorne Cemetery after services Wednesday afternoon (1 Mar 1939). A native of Texas, Mr. HALL was 49 years old. He spent his early life there and other parts of the Southwest where he became interested in mining. In 1920 he came to Nevada settling in Nye County. He lived the camps of Tybo and Tonopah in that county, engaging in mining the greater part of the time. Early in 1929 when there was assurance of the constructin of the Naval Ammunition Depot in Hawthorne, HALL moved with his wife to this town. He was in business for awhile and later he and Mrs. HALL lived at Fletcher Station on the Hawthorne-Bodie Road. About three years ago Mr. and Mrs. HALL leased the Golden Willow Ranch and Orchard from the late Michael KNOPF and moved to that location which is West of the main highway North of this town.
