Keenan Dies In Mineral Was Businessman, Political Leader Article Text: Hawthorne - 30 Dec, Peter S. KEENAN, a resident of Hawthorne the past 20 years, died Saturday evening (24 Dec) at the Mineral County Hospital where he had been taken earlier that day. Although he had been in failing health for a long period, Mr. KEENAN, who was 72 years old, was not stricken seriously ill until Saturday. Born in Scranton, PA, Mr. KEENAN had traveled to and lived in many states, coming to Nevada about 30 years ago. Mr. KEENAN lived in Goldfield, NV for 10 years before removing to Hawthorne in 1929 where he constructed the Nevada Club on E Street. He operated a cafe and soft drink parlor until the repeal of prohibition, when it became a saloon. A lifelong Democrat, Mr. KEENAN took an active part in politics, serving as Democratic leader in Mineral County for several years, although the only public office he held was that of county hospital trustee. Mr. KEENAN never married. He is survived by one brother, Jack KEENAN of Goldfield, NV and one sister Miss Mary KEENAN of Los Angeles, CA who came to Hawthorne for the funerl, five more sisters live in Scranton, PA.
