He came to the United States when he was 22, about 1887 and was naturalized in 1899 in San Bernardino, CA. One year after arriving in the states Mr. FITTING enlisted in the U.S. NAVY and remained with the Navy until 1892. He served on the St Louis, Vermont, Boston, Constellation, Philadelphia and the Franklin, all which were the pride of the U.S. NAvy 50 years ago. Sometime after that he became a miner. He never married and on 6 Nov 1937 at the age of 73 Mr. FITTING passed away in Hawthorne. His remains were buried in that towns cemetery.
