"Hank" Barlow Has Died Article Text: Holman F. "Hank" BARLOW, 81, a resident of Hawthorne since 1929, died Saturday (19 Oct) at the home of his daughter in Carson City. Mr. BARLOW was a native of Nevada, born in the town of Mason in Mason Valley 21 May 1911 to Arthur H. BARLOW and Adelle BUCKING BARLOW. As a child he lived both in Mason and in Reno, attending schools in both places. In the 1920.s Mr. BARLOW returned to Lyon County, working in the Thompson Copper Smelter at Wabuska until he removed to Hawthorne in 1929 to work at the Naval Ammunition Depot as a plumbers helper. When the Depot was formally commissioned, Mr. BARLOW was one of its first civil service employees, taking a job in the plumbing shop. A few years later he took a job as a night janitor so that he could attend Mineral County High School, graduating in 1936. Mr. BARLOW was active in our community including being chairman of the March of Dimes. After his retirment his main focus was on BARLOW'S Dutch Creek Ranch about 12 miles North of Hawthorne on the West shores of Walker Lake. The property had been acquired by his father in 1929. Surviving are his widow, Catherine BARLOW of Hawthorne, daughter, Jessica DANIELS of Carson City, one brother, Lee BARLOW of Hawthorne, two sisters, Helen BARKLEY of Paradise, CA and Winifred ELMORE of Reno, one granddaughter, Alicia DANIELS of Carson City, numerous neices and nephews.
