Layton died at her home on First Street, Sunday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock. Miss Layton was born in DeWitt, Clayton county, Iowa, Nov. 23, 1873. She came west with her parents when a small child and grew to woman's estate on the side of Mount Davidson in Virginia City, where she was known by every man, woman, and child. Her charitable disposition and willingness to lend her sweet voice to nearly every entertainment given, made her exceedingly popular. Her mother Mrs. A. L. Layton moved to Reno nine or ten years ago, and the family has resided here ever since. Flo, as she was familiarly called, soon became popular for she had a remarkably sweet voice and nothing of musical nature given in town was considered just as it should be without Flo Layton's voice. .... She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and Trinity Church choir. .... Mrs. H. V. Gates of Hillsboro, Or., a sister-in-law of Mrs. Layton came down Friday morning to render such assistance to the family as was possible. Mrs. Layton will go to Portland with Mrs. Gates immediately after the funeral on a visit to her brother. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ NV-Old-News ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ NewspaperAbstracts.com - Finding our ancestors in the news!
