The melancholy man stabbed himself several times in the breast missing the heart. While he is seriously injured, he will recover. LONGABAUGH was walking from Montezuma to Tonapah when two men in a rig overtook him. He gave them a drink and then stabbed himself. One of the men jumped out and disarmed LONGABAUGH and loaded him into the wagon and frantically drove him to Tonopah. LON, a resident of Hawthorne since 1948, died early today at Mount Grant General Hospital following an illness of only a few days. Mr. LONG who was 79 years old was born in Richmond, Indiana 17 Mar 1883. He spent most of his life in the Mid-West and for 27 years was employed by Iowa and Nebraska Light and Power Company at Clarinda Iowa. Following his retirement he and Mrs. LONG moved to Hawthorne to reside. In addition to his widow who makes her home at 569 J Street he is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Rosa L. KING and Mrs. Mary Jane THORNDIKE, both of Hawthorne and Mrs. Alberta AID of Sunset, Utah; sons, Roger LONG of New Market, Iowa and Vernon LONG of San Jose, CA; step-father Ralph CAMBELL of Creston, Iowa, 13 grandchildren and one great grandchild. It is believed that he was killed instantly Mr LANG was born 22 Jun 1956 in Kerrville, Texas and had lived in Hawthorne about 12 years. Survivors include Martha LANG, his widow and son James, both of Hawthorne; mother Leola ROSS of McGrath, Alaska; father Edwin LANG of Austin, Texas; brother Larry SPARROW of McGrath, Alaska; sisters, Laurie MORGAN of Enterprise, Alaska, Gail CAMACHO of Honilulu, Hawaii, and grandmother Selma ERFURT of Hawthorne. He was the son-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. C.W. GRIFFITH of Hawthorne. Funeral services have beeen tentatively set for 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Hawthorne.
