Mr. RUSNIK, believed to be past 90 years of age had been in failing health for several months and had been hospitalized at frequent intervals. Last Thursday night he left the hospital on his own accord, something he had done many times begore. When he failed to make his customary "rounds of the town" on Friday and Saturday nights friends asked officers to check on the aged man. Sheriff Al JENSEN had to force his way into RUSNIK'S cabin early Sunday, and there found him dead. Exact date or place of birth of Mr. RUSNIK could never be determined despite exaustive efforts by those who aided in his effort to obtain old age assistance. RUSNIK himself listed his birthplace as Hungary, Slovenia, Poland and possibly Romania. He was definite that it was some part of the old Austro-Hungarian empire but he blamed his confusion on the map makers of the post World War I period. How long Mr. RUSNIK had lived in this country and what states were other questions never to be answered. He had lived in Hawthonre about 20 years. Because of his advanced age and small stature - he was less than five feet tall and weighed less than 100 pounds - Mr. RUSNIK was unable to obtain employment, but with county assistance and help from friends he lived, what could be terned, an active life in the community. Funeral services were held Monday (7 Jan) and the Noone Mortuary in Hawthorne and burial was in the Hawthorne Cemetery. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ NV-Old-News ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ NewspaperAbstracts.com - Finding our ancestors in the news!
