Woodruff Article Text: Hawthorne - W.A. WOODRUFF, one of the pioneer residents of the Rawhide district was buried at the Hawthorne Cemetery Saturday evening (5 Jun 1937). Mr. WOODRUFF was associated with Thomas W. KENYON and Mrs. WEDELL of the Rawhide Hot Springs for a number of years and was camped at a minng property about 14 miles Northwest of the springs where he had been doing the assesment work. John MULLHAUSEER made a trip to call on Mr. WOODRUFF last Friday night and found the elderly miner had been dead in his cabin for several days. A calendar where he marked the days which he had worked on the claims, did not indicate that any work had been done for several weeks. Coroner H.C. BOND of Hawthorne took a coroner's jury composed of Hayes DONNELLY, T.J. WILSON and Larry THENAN, to the mine where an inquest was held. The verdict was that death was the cause of natural causes and old age. Mr. WOODRUFF and Tom KENYON had been partners in mining since 1882 and had been closely associated through all these years. Although he is reported tohave ben born i Stillwater, NV 76 years ago, very little was known of his family. Letters found in his cabin indicated he had a sister Clara living at 951 South Figueroa Street in Los Angeles. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ NV-Old-News ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ NewspaperAbstracts.com - Finding our ancestors in the news!
