I am seeking information about my gr-gr-grandfather, David Wildey, originally of Lake Geneva, WI-Hebron Ill area, born c.1840. He married my gr-gr- grandmother, Lydia Eliza Blodgett, and their daughter, my gr-grandmother, Emma Orril Wildey was born at Lake Geneva, WI on 7-27-1862. Shortly thereafter, David Wildey abandoned his wife and baby daughter and took off for Nevada, where we later learned he had a second family. His photo once hung at the Last Frontier Saloon in Las Vegas, I believe he may have died in NV in the 1890s. Thanks, E. Barratt

I am looking for information regarding Dr. Joel GRAMMER, who died 15 July 1861 in Virginia City, Washoe Valley, Carson Co., Nevada Territory. At the time of his death he was survived (at least) by his wife, Lydia GRAMMER, and children Mary, Ellen, Katherine (Catherine) and Joel. Dr. GRAMMER was originally from Illinois and moved in June of 1859 to Nevada Territory, shortly after the fabulously rich vein of gold and silver known as the Comstock Lode had been discovered . It is very likely that he moved there in response to the urging of his wife Lydia's brother-in-law, Emanual PENROD, one of the original developers of the Comstock Lode. As we ring in the new year and look forward to finding those elusive ancestors, I would like to take a moment to look back on the past year and the happenings at NewspaperAbstracts.com. 2004 brought much needed improvements to the site and the way that news items are contributed, making it possible for news items to be online within minutes instead of weeks or months. No longer was it necessary for county and state coordinators to painstakingly hand-code and upload web pages, now it is being done by the simple use of an online form that allows coordinators to immediately post the news item to the site. Can anyone give me some idea as to what sort of materials are available to track down someone that may have been killed in the 1890s or early 1900s in Nevada during the commission of a stagecoach robbery? The person in question would have been someone trying to rob the stagecoach. At least that is what I've been told. I'm not sure where in Nevada the event allegedly took place. I haven't ever done any research in Nevada and was hoping to get some ideas before getting into it. Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks in advance. Jamie
