Casilda Beddow - 82 yrs Annie Mae Long - 97 yrs Bonnie Evelyn Burns - 67 yrs Agnes (Whelan) Costigan - 92 yrs Joan Hunt - Mitchel Alexander Benoit Born In: Sydney Passed in: Catalone Passed on: August 12th, 2013 It is with deepest sadness and broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Mitchel Alexander Benoit on Aug. 12, 2013, in Bay of Islands, Newfoundland, at the tender age of 17. Mitchel was born in Sydney, N.S., and raised in Catalone, N.S. He was the son of Maurice Lahey (Lisa) and Tracy Benoit (Freddy Maglario). Mitchel recently graduated in academic at Piccadilly Central High School in Piccadilly, N.L. Mitchel excelled at every sport he loved, he enjoyed, skateboarding, motor cross, swimming, golfing, baseball, basketball, snowmobiling, wakeboarding, snowboarding and skiing. Mitchel loved to fish and hunt with his grandfather Victor, drive his mom's jeep, and go camping with his father. He had a variety of friends from Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Alberta that are all devastated by his sudden passing. Anyone who met Mitchel will remember him as a kind, gentle, loving young man with a huge heart and an old soul. You could always count on Mitchel for a big warming hug to brighten your day. Besides his parents, Mitchel is survived by his little sister, Charley Ann Lahey; his grandparents, Maurice and Florence Lahey, Rhoda Benoit, Victor Hall and Gerald Benoit. His great-grandmothers, Isabel Hall, Mildred Jesso and Evangeline Lahey; his aunts, Debbie Benoit (Daryl) and Sabrina Lahey ( Jonathon) by his five first cousins, Ana, Morgan, Jullian, Coby and Noah and many other great aunts, uncles and also numerous cousins. Mitchel touched the hearts and left an impression on everyone he ever met from all over the world, he will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Visitation for Mitchel will be held on Aug. 20, 2013, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney. HenryJoseph Nichol Born In: Sydney Passed in: Sydney Passed on: August 18th, 2013 It is with heartfelt sadness that we the family, announce the sudden passing of our brother and uncle, Henry Nichol, on Aug. 18, 2013, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Walter and Thelma (Tiny) Nichol. Henry enjoyed spending time, and partying with his many friends. Henry had fun doing anything he was involved in, and was always the life of the party. Henry is survived by his brother, George (Flora) Conn; and sister, Paula ( Mike) Langlois. Casilda Beddow Born In: Sydney Mines Born: October 5th, 1931 Passed in: Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada Passed on: August 18th, 2013 M. Casilda Beddow, wife of John W. Beddow for 58 years, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Aug. 18, 2013, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born Oct. 5, 1931, in Sydney Mines, she was a daughter of the late Alexander and Mary (Vickers) Lyle. Besides her husband, Casilda is survived by her children, Herbie (Frances), Hope (Kevin), Lucie (William), Gerald (Tina), Liam (Euphemia), Vera (Ronald), Doris (the late Cory), Jackie (Linda), Joe (the late Reberta), Casilda and Elizabeth (Ronald); sister, Sharon (Clause); brother, David (Eileen); several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews. Born in Florence on Sept. 12, 1915, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Mary (Reardon) Dawe of Newfoundland. Mom enjoyed the little things in life, like going to the casino and scratching her lottery tickets. She will be missed greatly by all who knew her. Born in Sydney , she was the daughter of the late William Alexander and Evelyn (MacKenzie) MacLeod. Bonnie retired as an RN with the City of Sydney Hospital. Born on Sept. 23, 1920, in Colliers, Newfoundland, Agnes was the daughter of the late Matthew and Ellen (Fowler) Whelan. Mom was an angel on earth who sacrificed so much of her own wants and needs for her children. She loved us more than anything in this world and we loved her right back. She was beautiful inside and out; a precious life, given in service to God; taken by God to live forever and ever in His presence. Mom was a devoted member of Holy Redeemer Church. Agnes leaves behind her children, Joe (Elizabeth), Lorraine, Helen (George), Marie, Linda (Murdock), Mike (Pat), Brian (Debbie), Mary (whom mom lived with), Brenda (Gary), Nancy (Wayne), Peggy (Arno) and John Glenn; stepchildren, Beatrice, Martha and Tom; daughter in-law, Lorraine; sister, Mary Dunn; brother, Frank Whelan; special grandchildren, Jennifer and Jeffery; 53 grandchildren; 90 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
