Born in Dominion, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Jessie Margaret (MacDonald) MacLellan. Dups was a real coal miner's daughter - one of a family of 15 children. She worked hard all of her life as a home maker, and above all managed to maintain a great sense of humour. She loved flowers and gardening and kept gardens at home as well as at her other favorite spot - the cabin. There are also a few stories about her favorite pets Toby the dog and Tobytoo the cat. She always had her priorities in the right order, and right to the end of her life she was game to go out the door whenever she had the opportunity to go shopping or visiting. She leaves behind her six children: Jim (Sharon) Grant, Riverview NB; Diane (Joe) Metz , Baddeck; Peggy (Donald) MacLeod, North Sydney; Dan (Bonita Murdock) Grant, Vancouver; Shelley (Joe) Barry, North Sydney; Troy (Trish) Grant , North Sydney. Her 16 grandchildren Todd, Derrick & Scott Grant, Michael, Tim & Corey Sawchuk, Judd, Hayes & Grant MacLeod, Michael & Jeffrey Grant, Kerri & Chris Saunders, Aaron Barry and Kristy & Emma Grant. Her 19 great-grandchildren and her brothers, Fraser (Fran), Ross (Jeanette), Allister, Robert. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 70 years, Arthur, in 2011 whom she missed dearly. She was also predeceased by an infant son Kevin Douglas in 1947; brothers Earl, Donald, Stewart, James & Gordon; and sisters Anna, Jean, Helen, Grace & Rita. Thank you to Dup's longtime caregiver Wendy Hardy; her best friend Regina Fedora; care givers June Buckland, Tammy Jessome and the VON.
