Born in Sydney, a daughter of the late Ada and Colin MacVicar. She married the love of her life, John James, and together raised seven children. Mom was known for her quick wit, great sense of humor and her ability to tell it like it is. A devoted mother, her greatest joy in life was spending time with and being surrounded by her family. Mom loved children, laughter, good food and her ‘cup of tea’. She was an avid reader of real life events, history and local culture. In recent years, she never missed her 9 p.m. episode of Nancy Grace! Peggy is survived by daughters Ann Marie (Tom), Edmonton, Nancy, Albert Bridge, Mia (Bobby), Halifax; sons, Allan (Corien), Rimbey, AB, Peter, Sydney, and Robert (Tina), Tarbotvale; her special grandchildren, Olivia and Emily, John-James, Karla, Michael, Wendy, Kevin, Glenn, Dylan and Alex; great grandchildren, MacKenzie, Alena and Declan, Evan, Alex and Savannah and by many nieces and nephews. Also survived by sisters Marilyn and Betty; brother Lawrence; sisters-in-law Caddy and Kay. She was predeceased by her loving husband James and precious son, Joseph. A heartfelt thank you to all the staff at Buchanan Memorial Hospital, Cape Breton Regional Palliative Care nurses and Dr. Mary Ann Campbell. Born in North Sydney, George was the son of the late Percy and Carrie (Lillington) Ramsay. George was a kind, loving, caring son, brother, uncle and friend and will be missed by all who knew him. George was a taxi driver on the Northside for many years working with Blue and White Taxi, Jardine’s Taxi and most recently Cape Regional Taxi. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, North Sydney. George is survived by his two sisters Debbie Hodder, North Sydney and Florence (Robert) Campbell, Sydney Mines and special friend Jay Weir, also by nieces Denise, Carrie, Kelsey, nephews Tommy, Jason, Edward, Robert and a number of grand nieces and nephews and aunts and uncles. George was predeceased by his father Percy Ramsay and most recently by his mother Carrie (Lillington) Ramsay on December 14, 2012, and his sister Dianne Morrison. Your life was a blessing Your memory a treasure… You are loved beyond words And missed beyond measure… Stanley Googoo Born In: Whycocomagh Passed in: Baddeck Passed on: August 29th, 2013 Stanley Francis Googoo, 67, Waycobah First Nation, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013, in the Victoria County Memorial Hospital, Baddeck. Born in Whycocomagh, Inverness County, he was a son of the late Michael Peter and Ellen (Sylliboy) Googoo. Stanley was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, godfather, uncle and friend. He will be sadly missed by so many and his love and friendship will be remembered in all our hearts. The love he had for his wife and family was the strength that helped him through the past few months. He was a man of faith and did so much for his parish because he was such a kind person with a great heart. He enjoyed decorating his home for Christmas, right down to Santa Clause and his sleigh. He did this for all the children of the community to enjoy. His love of sports was evident in the many years of competing in canoe races and in snowmobile races. Hunting was also a sport he enjoyed. He was water commissioner for Waycobah for 24 years. He also did snow removal for over 40 years. He was a commercial oyster fisherman and scuba diver. He owned his own construction business, he was a canoe racer. He was a member of Blessed Kateri Parish, Holy Trinity Church, Waycobah, and he devoted his entire life to the church. The family at this time would like to thank Dr. Genge, Dr. Chow and the nursing staff at the Victoria County Memorial Hospital, while Stanley was in the hospital. Surviving are his loving wife of 22 years, Betty (Prosper), Waycobah; daughters, Darla (John L.) Bernard, Natalie and Patricia (Stewart) Peters, all of Waycobah; sons, Adrian (Jennifer), Waycobah, Terry (Arlene), Membertou, Cory and Jonathan, both of Waycobah; sisters, Mary Bernard, Waycobah, Anna K. (Francis) Pierro, Wagmatcook, Germaine (Phillip) Martin, Millbrook, Geraldine Paul, Waycobah, Barbara Googoo, Maine; brothers, William, Millbrook, Bernie B. (Phylis) and Henry (Binta), both of Waycobah; 23 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; as well as several godchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by grandparents, Grand Chief Gabriel and Harriet Sylliboy, brothers, Gabriel, Alex R., Ryan J., Donald, Chief Wayne; beloved son, Sheldon. Visitation will be after 2 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 31 in the Fishery Building, 160 Reservation Rd., Waycobah First Nation. Margaret LeBlanc Born In: Cheticamp Passed in: Sydney Passed on: August 30th, 2013 With profound sadness we regret to announce the death of Margaret Helen LeBlanc, 96, (formerly of East Margaree, and a resident of Foyer Père Fiset, Cheticamp) on Friday, Aug. 30, 2013 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Margaret was the daughter of the late Caliste Muise and Suzanne (Blanchard) Muise. She was the last surviving member of her family. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she deeply loved her family and their welfare was her utmost concern. Known for her warm and caring manner, Margaret welcomed everyone to her kitchen for tea and a delicious baked treat. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed feeding thousands of friends who visited her over the years. Margaret was also proud to be a lifelong member of the Catholic Women’s League of East Margaree. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Hubert Austin LeBlanc; her son, Hubert Jr. (Pauline), Milton, Ont.; her daughter, Sylvia (Kenneth) Crowdis of Sydney River; and her cherished grandchildren, Steven, Milton, Ont.; Robert (Katherine) LeBlanc, Toronto, Ont.; and Suzanne (Paul Knight) Crowdis of Ottawa, Ont. She was predeceased by her brother, Joseph Muise; sisters, Mary Ellen Muise and Adele Luedey. She leaves to mourn nieces and nephews, who loved her deeply. He was the son of Gordon and Carrie (Baldwin) Kea of Wasaga Beach, Ont. David will always be within the heart of his beloved wife, Debbie. Proud father of Rebecca (Chris), Sarah (Ben) Casey and Chris and stepfather to Kendall, Emily (Jay) and Dustin. Daniel Halleran Passed in: Kingston, Ontario, Canada Passed on: August 24th, 2013 RCN - 1952 - 1957 Canadian Armed Forces 1958 – 1973 R.M.C. Food Services 1980 - 1994 Daniel passed peacefully in Kingston, Ont., surrounded by his family, on Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013. Dan has gone to be reunited with the love of his life, his wife of 53 years, Mary (St. John), who predeceased him in 2009. He was also predeceased by his parents, William and Euphemia (Campbell) Halleran, late of Sydney, N.S., as well as six sisters and two brothers. He is survived by his sister, Betty House, of Sydney; son, William (Donna); daughters, Rose Halleran, Rebecca Mansfield (Arthur) and Mary Cross (Wayne), all of Kingston, as well as seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and Dan's life long friend, Jimmy McDonald. In accordance with Daniel's wishes, he will be cremated and laid to rest beside his beloved Mary at Glenhaven Memorial Gardens. A private gathering of family and close friends in celebration of Dan's life, will be held at a later date.
