Floyd was a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada until 2006 and a former employee of the Business Development Branch of the Bank of Canada. Floyd was predeceased by his parents, Angus and Sarah McInnis. He will be missed and remembered by many family members, especially his aunt, Jessie O'Leary; cousins, Gary O'Leary, Calvin (Ginny) O'Leary and Catherine Stone (Harte). Floyd was born in Cape Breton, N.S. and was always fond of reminiscing about happy summer holidays spent there with family and friends. Private cremation arrangements are entrusted with the Turner & Porter "Peel" Chapel, Mississauga. A memorial will be held at a later date for family and friends. Mary (Steele) Canova - 65 yrs, Dominion It is with greatest sadness that we announce the passing of Mary (Steele) Canova on August 20, 2013., at the Cape Breton regional Hospital An Cala Unit, in Sydney, surrounded by her loving family and friends. Mary was born on July 24, 1948, and raised in Dominion, NS, the daughter of Margaret (Graham) Steele and the late Angus Steele. Although she will be most remembered as a talented and professional travel agent at Travel Universal Vacations, her most beloved job was working with her father, Angus in his Dominion business. Mary cherished her years spent as a stay at home mom, where she was devoted to her children's happiness. She had an enormous amount of love to give and would welcome into her home anyone in need. She taught so many people the value of the simple words "I love you" Mary was an avid reader and skater. She particularly loved our numerous family gatherings where she enjoyed being our dedicated family photoghrapher.é her time spent with her grandchildren were the happiest times of her life. She loved to travel and share that joy with family, especially her beloved brother, Bill, and their time spent together at Rancho Luna in Cuba. Mary is survived by her mother, Margaret, children, Vanessa (Frank), Maria (Justin) and Angelo (Jillian), stepdaughter, Natalie Cooper Cormier, beloved grandchildren, Michael, Sara, Nicholas, Jasmine, Julian and Lucas, who were her pride and joy. She is also survived by her former husband and his wire, Frank and Mary Canova, who along with Ellen MacAulay and brother Bill, were ther best friends, extended d family, Chris, Lynn and Cory McPhee and their families, many special nieces, nephews, cousins and special aunt and uncle Gen and Johnny Gormack. Also survived by brothers, Mike and Joy, sisters, Theresa and Alice. Mary was predeceased by her father, Angus, brothers, Graham and James. In honouring Mary's wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be at Curry's Funeral Home, 664 Main Street, Glace Bay on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. A funeral mass will be held at 11 am on Saturday at Immaculate Conception Church with Fr. Daniel Boudreau officiating. We would like to thank al of the special people involved in Mary's care including Dr. Abel, Dr. Sugas , and VON, the staff of the An Cala Unit and the amazing staff of unit 4B, especially RN Holly Winn, whose loving care helped so much. Mom will be greatly missed and the memories she gave us will be with us forever. We take great comfort in the thought that she is now reunited with her cherished father. Donations may be made to the An Cala Unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
