From New Westminster, British Columbia, she was the daughter of Jack and Bertha (Dunbar) Mundie. She is survived by her husband Marcel Doucet; children Linda Blackman (Gary), Graham (Franca) Blackman, Sue (Richard) Dragland, Becky (Jordy) Kaufman; sisters-in-law Irene Mundie, Janice (Dennis) McFarland; nephews John (Catherine) Mundie, Jessie, Jackson, Justin, Jeff (Lisa) Mundie, Jack (Kate), Blake Mundie; chosen nieces Jessica (Dustin) Makayla and Maddex Young; grandchildren Shanna (Jeph) Gekko, Matthew Ladan, Peter, Sacha and Emma Blackman, Jason (Laurel) Garner, Cara and Shira Dveris; great-grandchildren Evan and Owen Gekko; chosen grandma Jenny Park; and large extended families of Dunbar and Doucet-Chaissons, She was predeceased by her parents, husband Peter Blackman, brothers John and Creighton, nephew Jamie Mundie and best friend Linda Park. A highly intelligent and capable woman with a keen memory, she finished her working career, all with the Royal Bank as a systems analyst at head office in Montreal. She loved to garden at home and at the Inverness County Centre for the Arts. Good food, a fine quality wine, good conversation surrounded by family and friends in her beautiful Cape Breton home filled her heart with love and happiness. With cremation, a funeral service took place on Saturday, August 17th, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, West Lake Ainslie, burial of ashes at a later date in St. Michael's Cemetery, East Margaree. In her memory a single flower from the wild, a garden or wherever were collected for the communal flower baskets at the church service; donation to the "Charlotte's Garden" fund at the Inverness County Centre for the Arts, 16080 Highway 19, Inverness, Nova Scotia, B0E 1N0 would be appreciated. "What would life be if we had no courage to love." - Marcel MacNEIL In loving memory of Joe MacNeil, 74 years, who passed away suddenly at his residence, Thursday, August 15th, 2013. He was a beloved son of Allan and Christina MacNeil (nee Hawley), both predeceased; cherished brother of Mary Anne Jessup (Ron) of Oshawa and Sinclair, Hughie and Catherine (all predeceased). He is survived by his sister-in-law Rita MacNeil of North York. He will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews and friends. Joe was a long-time employee of Falconbridge. He will be remembered as a good worker and a great guy. The family would like to thank Connie and Al for all their care and support for Joe. "Always in my heart," love, your sister Mary Anne. WALKER Barbara M. Walker, age 80, of Halifax, passed away August 14th, 2013, at home. Born in Halifax on May 15th, 1932, she was a daughter of the late John A. Walker and Josephine MacLennan Walker. Barbara attended the Convent of the Sacred Heart, Dalhousie University (B.A., B.Ed.), McGill (M.Ed.). She spent a year at the University of Nice on a teaching fellowship. Barbara taught for the Halifax District School Board for 35 years. She taught at St. Mary's Boy's School for a number of years and then moved to administration. When she retired in 1992, she was the supervisor of Guidance and Special Services. Barbara was a member of the board of Dalhousie University, Mount St. Vincent University, the Nova Scotia Power Corporation, the Immigration Advisory Council, the Advisory Committee on Judiciary Appointments, the Mayor's Task Force on Off-shore Activities, and the Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron. Barbara supported the community serving on the board of the Atlantic Guidance Centre, Halifax Citadel Foundation, the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, and the Atlantic Symphony. Barbara was a member of the Junior League of Halifax, the Halifax Infirmary Auxiliary, and the Art Study Group at the Art Gallery. She was a founding member of the Halifax Chapter of the Confrerie des Chevaliers du Tastévin. Barbara was proud to receive the Queen's Jubilee medals marking the Golden and Diamond Anniversary of the Succession to the Throne. Barbara was fascinated by politics. She worked tirelessly for the Progressive Conservative Party by doing any job that she was asked to undertake. She loved every minute of it. Barbara enjoyed the summer months spent at "the farm" at Lake Ainslie. She loved everything about Lake Ainslie, especially her wonderful neighbours and the great spirit of community. Entertaining family and friends gave her the opportunity to show off the farm. Nothing gave her greater pleasure than relaxing on the deck watching the eagles soar. Barbara enjoyed sports, diving, swimming, golfing, and walking in Point Pleasant Park and along the beaches of Inverness County. She also played a lot of bridge and took great pleasure in music and theatre. She is survived by her sister Joan of Halifax; niece Elizabeth Markewicz, Boxborough, Mass.; nephews John Murphy, Williston, Vt.; Paul Murphy, Acton, Mass.; Gregory Murphy, Oakland, Calif; grandnieces Kimberley and Allison Markewicz; Rhiannon and Alexandra Murphy; Alex and Peter Murphy; Peter and Genna Murphy. She was predeceased by her parents and sister Anne Murphy. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Nova Scotia Division. The family received friends and visitors on Sunday, August 25th in Cruikshank's Halifax Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor St. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, August 26th, in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Halifax.
