Born in Braintree, Massachusetts, November 5th, 1916, he was the youngest child of the late Alward and Grace (Steadman) Ingraham. He was predeceased by Thelma (Lane) Ingraham, his loving wife of 61 years in March of this year. He spent much of his youth in his beloved Margaree Valley, and after graduating with a BSc from Harvard University in 1938, he returned there to live. A Veteran of WWII, his experiences made him reluctant to discuss that distressing chapter in his life. After the war, he returned to university, graduating from St. Francis Xavier University with a BEd. He began his career in education. Never one to be idle, along with teaching, he raised chickens, was a honey producer, hobby farmer, strawberry grower and an amazing gardener. His happiest hours were spent outdoors exploring, picking berries and working the land. Billy's children and grandchildren will be left with the wonderful memories of his gifted storytelling and the many exciting adventures he took them on. He is survived by his children Janet (Dave) Paul, Shubenacadie; Susan (Brian) Konopski, Winnipeg; Jack (Letty) Ingraham, Carvel; Annie Ingraham, Cobble Hill; Alice (Brian) MacDonald, Windsor Junction; Wendy (John) Dixon, Vancouver; Sheryl (Wayne Boudreau) Ingraham, Durham; Dana Ingraham, Margaree Valley; and April (John Mott) Ingraham, Summerland. Also surviving are grandchildren Elizabeth Harris, Shubenacadie; Phillip (Natalie) Harris, Bedford; Maura (Dietrich) Pajonk, Vancouver; Daniel and Christopher Ingraham, Halifax; Brandie Ingraham, Dartmouth; Damien and Gabriel Haince, Windsor Junction; Tiffany (Michael) Paul Osborne, Wainwright; Michael Paul, Shubenacadie; Heather and Shelby Konopski, Winnipeg; Joshua and Katrina Naesgaard, Cobble Hill; Kieran Boudreau, Durham; Angelica and Kathleen Dixon, Vancouver; Sylvia and Helena Mott, Summerland, as well as chosen granddaughter Meghan (Gil) Richard, great-grandchildren Brianna, Kian and Austin Harris, Levi and Kaci Harris, and great-great-grandchildren Brooklyn Harris and Kilei Weatherbee, and sister-in-law Edena Stevenson, and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his wife and parents, he was predeceased by twin sisters Fern (Jules) Bonet and Helen (Willem) Pinard; brother Dr. Hollis (Helena) Ingraham; son-in-law Robert Naesgaard; and infant grandson Peter Ingraham. Online condolences may be sent to: [email protected] LeBLANC With profound sadness we regret to announce the death of Margaret Helen LeBlanc, 96, formerly of East Margaree, and a resident of Foyer Père Fiset, Cheticamp on Friday, August 30th, 2013 in Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Margaret was the daughter of the late Caliste Muise and Suzanne (Blanchard) Muise. She was the last surviving member of her family. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she deeply loved her family, and their welfare was her utmost concern. Known for her warm and caring manner, Margaret welcomed everyone to her kitchen for tea and a delicious baked treat. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed feeding thousands of friends who visited her over the years. Margaret was also proud to be a lifelong member of the Catholic Women's League of East Margaree. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Hubert Austin LeBlanc; her son Hubert Jr. (Pauline), Milton, Ont.; her daughter Sylvia (Kenneth) Crowdis of Sydney River; her cherished grandchildren Steven, Milton, Ont.; Robert (Katherine) LeBlanc, Toronto, Ont.; and Suzanne (Paul Knight) Crowdis of Ottawa, Ont. She was predeceased by her brother Joseph Muise; sisters Mary Ellen Muise and Adele Luedey. She leaves to mourn nieces and nephews who loved her deeply. The body rested at St. Michael's Parish Hall, East Margaree. Funeral mass was held on Monday, September 2nd, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Michael's Church, East Margaree with Father Doug MacDonald officiating. Condolences may be sent to [email protected] LYNCH Elizabeth (nee MacNeil) Lynch passed away peacefully at the Montfort Hospital on Tuesday August 27th, 2013 at the age of 77 years. She was the beloved wife of the late Frank Lynch. Elizabeth was a loving mother of Wayne (Anne Marie Riel) of Ottawa, Bob (Marcie) of Ottawa, David of Kelowna, Frank Jr. of Alberta, and Michael (Sandy) of North Carolina; dear grandmother of Isabelle, Sophie, Nicolas, Marianne, Kyle, Jessica, Morgan, Sterling, Jacob, Joshua, Zachary and Madison; dear sister of Alex MacNeil (Catherine) of Mabou. She was predeceased by her sisters Catherine McLeod of Sudbury and Nellie Halloran of Grimsby and her parents Grace Hawley and Donald MacNeil and step-father Duncan Rankin of Mabou. Friends payed respects at the Kelly Funeral Home Orleans Chapel on Friday, August 30th. MacLEAN Flora Ann MacLean, 93, Long Point, passed away August 30th, 2013 at the Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston. Born in Judique South, she was a daughter of the late John A. "Long John" and Jessie (O'Handley) MacDonald. She was a member of St. Andrew's Parish, Judique. She was employed locally in her teens. She worked in Toronto before and during WWII in the John Inglis plant. Flora returned home (Long Point) in 1946 to raise her family on the MacLean farm. A lover of Celtic music and the Gaelic, she was well known for her homemade butter and cheese, as well as her daily walks. She is survived by her sons, Hughie John (Susan), St. Paul, Minnesota; Winston James (Rose), Vancouver Island, BC; Frank A. (Paula), Richard D., both of Long Point; Angus Gerard (Angela), Edmonton; Dr. Stanley Stephen (Jessica), South Korea; daughters Marie B. MacLEAN John Alexander "Jackie" MacLean, age 62, of Inverness, formerly of Scotsville, passed away on Wednesday, August 28th, 2013, in Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Born in Inverness on January 14th, 1951, Jackie was a son of Donald Hugh MacLean and the late Nellie Josephine (MacLeod) MacLean. Jackie is survived by his father Donald; son Josh MacLean, Truro; and daughter Maggie MacLean, New York; and their mother Ardith MacLean, Truro; brother, Brian (Anne), Scotsville; uncle John T., Inverness; aunt Beverly MacQuarrie, Port Hawkesbury; nephews Donnie MacLean and David MacLean, both of Ontario; niece Abby MacLean, Abu Dhabi, Middle East; and granddaughter Reese MacLean, New York. SHAW Walter Gerard Shaw, age 89 of Margaree Valley, passed away on Sunday, September 1st, 2013, in Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital. Born in Margaree on April 8th, 1924, Walter was a son of the late William and Myrtle (Smith) Shaw. Walter was a member of the Cheticamp Legion Branch No. 32, was a veteran of WWII, and served overseas from 1944-1946, and was wounded in Germany in 1945. He was last employed with Fisheries and Oceans, and retired at the age of 65. Walter is survived by his wife, Irene (Morrison), of 72 years this October; children James (Pat), Margaree Valley; Myrtle, New Glasgow; Curtis, Margaree Valley; and Susan, New Glasgow. Walter is also survived by eight grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; sister Rita Burchell, Lower Sackville; brothers Jack (Isabel), Hamilton, Ont.; Jim (Betty Lou), Stoney Creek, Ont.; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his brother Charlie, and sisters Ernestine and Gloria. Visitation was held in Margaree Valley Baptist Church on Monday, September 2nd. Funeral service was held on Tuesday, September 3rd, at 1:00 p.m. in Margaree Valley Baptist Church, Margaree Valley, with Pastor Hugh Morrison celebrating; burial followed in Margaree Valley Baptist Cemetery. TIMMONS It is with heartfelt sadness we announce the sudden passing of our father, son and brother Wayde Jackie Timmons. Wayde passed away at home in Margaree Centre, on August 19th, 2013. Born in Inverness on March 31st, 1957, he was the son of Katherine and Benjamin Timmons. Prior to retiring, Wayde worked for the Department of Highways. He loved camping and spending time with his family and friends. Wayde is survived by his mother Katherine and step-father Walter Hinkley; sons Wade (Jeana), Eastern Passage, Fabian (Christian), Bennie (Darlene), Douglas (Ashleigh), Dana (Tina), Travis (Jessie), all in Alberta; his ten grandchildren; and siblings Hal, Ronnie (Harriet), Margaree Centre, and Rita (Alex), East Margaree; also several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Benjamin and an infant brother. Visitation for the late Wayde Timmons was held at Sunset Funeral Co-operative Thursday, August 22nd from 3:00-8:00 p.m. Family burial was Friday, August 23rd at Wilson United Church Cemetery. Donations in memory of Wayde may be made to the South West Margaree or Cheticamp AA Association. Funeral arrangements were under the care of Sunset Funeral Co-operative, Margaree Valley.
