She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, John; daughter, Marilyn (Brian); son, John (Nancy); grandchildren, Marianna Stapleton, Kelleah (Steve) Anesty and Kerri (Rob) Kay; her great-grandchildren, Kurtis, Julie, Tanner and Molly; sister, Eileen; niece, Diane; sister-in-law, Phyllis; nieces, Janice, Joyce and Jennifer; sister-in-law, Rose and family. Besides her parents, Thomas and Virginia, she was predeceased by her brothers, Bernie and Carl and sister, Ida. Her family was the most important thing in her life and was her pride and joy. She was a life-long member of Holy Rosary parish and active for many years in the CWL. We would like to thank the staff of 4A at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for the exceptional care they gave our mom with special mention of nurse Brenda. A memorial mass will be celebrated at Holy Rosary Church, Westmount at 11 a.m., Monday, Sept. 16, 2013, with a reception to follow in the glebe basement. Eleanor Currie Born In: Sydney Mines Passed on: September 10th, 2013 Family and friends of Eleanor Currie are saddened by her passing on Sept. 10, 2013. Born in Sydney Mines, she was the daughter of the late John and Josephine (MacPhee) Currie. She was a graduate of Nova Scotia's Teachers College and taught school in Sydney Mines before deciding to stay at home to raise her three children. These were noted to be the happiest days in her life. She is survived by her daughters, Paula Harron (Steve), Michaela and Katie; Valerie Dolhanty (Curtis), Olivia; her son, Brian Purchase (Allison), Julia and Maddie. She is mourned by her brothers, John Currie (Kate), Dougall Currie (Bev), Bernard Currie (Patricia) and her sister, Sharon O'Neill (Alex). She was predeceased by her brother, Liam Currie and her sister, Claire Currie. She would like to express her sincere gratitude to Dr. Khodad, Dr. Ritter and their wonderful staff at the Cape Breton Cancer Centre. The family would also like to thank palliative care and VON for their tremendous support. Cremation has taken place at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel by her request. George Cartwrght Born In: Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Canada Born: October 28th, 1935 Passed in: London, Ontario, Canada Passed on: September 7th, 2013 Passed away at peace in his home in London, Ont., on Sept. 7, 2013, at the age of 77. His family was at his side. He leaves behind loving partner, Leeann; special friend, Meredith and is survived by many siblings, sons, daughters, stepchildren, foster children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, loved ones, friends and his loyal canine friends Jack and "Little Lil." Siblings, Muriel (David), Kenneth (Mary), Ethel (Charles), Gerrald (Anne), Nancy (John D.), Audrey (Gordon), Mildred (Glen), Edward (Marj), Ruthie (Ralph); children, Bill, Duilah (Randy), Yvonne (Neil), Brent (Judy), Shane (Monica), Terry (Christie), George (Leeanne); stepchildren, Jon, Chris, Kate; foster children, Eric, Lisa, Lori; grandchildren, Shondell (Cyril), Cameron (Tess), Rebecca, Blaire, Meagan, Lauren, Andrew, Grant, Matthew, Michelle, Ryan, Matt, Samuel and Baby Cartwright; great-grandchildren, Jordan, Blake, Preston, Titian, Tanner. George was born in Cape Breton on Oct. 28, 1935, before going on to lead a life of many professions. Curious, ambivalent, tender and kind, George was a charitable man who touched many. He was a mentor and a teacher, and he continues to inspire all his loved ones with the knowledge and skill set he earned over his long and fruitful life. The Cartwrights and the Clarkes wish to thank the many kind health-care professionals who helped him along his journey. There will be a celebration of George's life at his home in London, 168 Ardsley Cres., on Saturday, Sept. 14, starting at 3 p.m. His one wish was to have a joyous celebration. All are welcomed. James 'Jimmie' Finney A funeral mass for the late James 'Jimmie' MacInnis, husband of Agnes 'Bishie' (MacLean), will take place Friday, Sept. 13th at 11 a.m., St. Mary's Church, Frenchvale, Fr. Paul Abbass officiating.
