Born in North Sydney, Kathleen was the daughter of the late Annabelle (Dunphy) and John Morrison. Kathleen will be sadly missed by her daughters, Kathleen (Dan) Edmond, Oromocto, N.B., Annette Dieppe, N.B. and Frances, Glace Bay; sons, Michael, Glace Bay and Neil (Shirley), Pleasantville, N.S. Also surviving are numerous, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great- great-grandchildren. Kathleen was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Kathleen was predeceased by her parents; husband, Neil; son, William; daughter, Deborah; grandson, Jeremy; brothers, Mike and Bill; sisters, Flo, Mary, Bette and Anne. Visitation will be held on Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013 from 3-7 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A funeral mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 9, 2013 at St. Anthony's Church, Glace Bay with Fr. Norman MacPhee officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Joseph Campbell Born In: Sydney Passed in: Sydney Passed on: August 30th, 2013 It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Joseph Alexander Campbell in Sydney, on Friday, Aug. 30, 2013, at the age of 87 years. Joe was born in Sydney, N.S., the eldest son to Alex and Catherine Campbell (nee MacPherson). He graduated from St. Francis Xavier University in 1948, and after four years of study at Holy Heart Seminary in Halifax, was ordained to the priesthood in 1952. After 15 years with the clergy in Glace Bay, Port Hawksbury, Sydney and the Dominican Republic, Joe left the priesthood and moved to Fredericton in 1966 to study Education at UNB. In that same year, he married his wife and soul mate, Leone (nee Graham). His 24 year career in education included work in Fort Smith, NWT and Calgary, Alta., as a teacher, guidance counselor and education consultant, and he retired from the Calgary Catholic School Board in 1991. Joe was predeceased by his parents, Alex and Catherine; his brother, Jimmie and his loving wife of 43 years, Leone. He will be forever missed by his son, Mark (Tracy) and grandson, Morgan of Monroe, Wash.; daughter, Kerri of Calgary; siblings, Sr. Mary Campbell, CND, of Sydney; John Hugh (Joyce) of London, Ont. and George (Joan) of Sydney; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, and very close friends in Calgary. Joe had a great love of family, friends, and people in general, and he will be remembered for his patience, compassion and kindness. Relatives and friends are invited to a memorial service at Parkland Cape Breton, 84 Kenwood Dr., Sydney on Monday, Sept. 9 at 1:30 p.m., with Rev. Joe Gillis officiating. Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Catherine (McInnis) Currie. She was a faithful member of St. Anne's parish, Glace Bay. She was a longtime member of the C.B. Artist Association, St. Anne's Bowling League and enjoyed playing cards with her friends. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by her daughters, Audrey (Thomas) McMahon, Dominion, Louise (Gary) Campbell, Halifax; son, Frank Murphy, Glace Bay; grandchildren, Frank (Vanessa), Lynne, Cheryl, Cathy (Johnny) Chimienti, Denise McMahon; step-grandchildren, Sandra (Christian) and Daniel (Amanda) Campbell; great-grandson, Henry Chimienti; step-great-grandson, Anthony Gazee; sister-in-law and close friend, Ann Walsh; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Frank, four brothers, Michael, John, William and Alexander, three sisters, Annie, Margaret (Mrs. Ted Snow), Teresa (Mrs. Elmore McInnis), brothers-in-law, Hilbert (Mary) Murphy, Edward (Elizabeth) Murphy and Ronald Walsh. Visitation will be on Sunday, Sept. 8 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Curry's Funeral Home, 775 Main St., Glace Bay. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, Sept. 9, 10 a.m. in St. Anne's Church. Raymond 'Hawk Carey Born In: Bras d'Or Passed in: North Sydney Passed on: September 5th, 2013 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Raymond Joseph 'Hawk' Carey on Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013 at the Northside General Hospital, with his loving family by his side. Born in Bras d'Or, he was a son of the late Louis and Sadie (Pentz) Carey; he was a member of Holy Family parish, Sydney Mines. Raymond worked many years at the Alder Point Fish Plant, National Sea, and the Nickerson Fish Plant. Raymond enjoyed fishing, hunting and listening to music at Indian Beach accompanied by his sister-in-law, Ducky. Raymond is survived by his wife, Kathy (MacLeod); son, Bart, Sydney Mines; daughters, Ericka (Devon), North Sydney, Tayler (Arron), Sydney Mines, Bonnie (Larry), New Waterford; grandchildren, Jacob, Kevin, Robert, Logan, Isacc, Meadow and Santan. Also survived by his mother-in-law, Allina MacLeod 'Ma', whom he thought of as a second mother; 12 brothers and sisters, Sonny (Pat), Ella-Marg (Allister Phillips), both of Baddeck, Alfred (Annie), Florence, Sophia (Gord Tucker), Lower Sackville, Gladys (Fred Howell), Catherine (George Rudderham), both of Point Edward, George, Ontario, John (Alberta), Balls Creek, Martha, Sydney Mines, Aulley (Ella), Joe Glen (Michelle), both of Point Aconi and Donald Bras d'Or. He will also be missed by the MacLeod family and many friends and his dog, 'Butterball', who he had taken for many walks. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Isabelle, Phyllis and brother, Thomas (Echo) Carey. There will be no visitation, a funeral mass to celebrate Raymond's life will be held on Monday, Sept. 9, 2013 at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Church, Sydney Mines with Fr. J.J. MacDonald officiating.
