Hillier - 96 yrs Edna Carlotta MacDonald - 85 yrs Christopher Anthony 'Chris' Rudnicki - 23 yrs Lloyd Vincent Marchesin - 66 yrs Courtney Michelle Dithurbide It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beautiful girl, Courtney Michelle Dithurbide. Precious daughter of Kimberly Dithurbide and Kevin Coadic (Cathy). Loving Mom to Brayden, who was the love of her life and the light in her eyes. Courtney touched the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to met her with her infectious smile and witty carefree nature. She attended Cole Harbour High School and was currently enrolled in the classes at the NSCC. During her school years she played Volleyball and lacrosse and for years has been passionate about snowboarding. Besides her parents and beautiful baby boy, she is survived by sister and best friend, Carrington; brothers, Riley, who she loved to hang out with, and baby brother, Jonah; very special nephew, Carter; boyfriend/soul mate, Chris; aunts, Cyndi (Bam) George, Michelle (Nelson) George, Linda (Blair) Aucoin, Sandra (Cyril) and Colleen Coadic; uncles, Eddy (Sylvie), Blair/Tiny (Lucy), Michael (Sue); grandmother, Carol Dithurbide; many cousins especially, Alicia, Bradley, Jaime and Cassidy. She was predeceased by her Papa Eddy Dithurbide. Visitation will take place Monday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Eastern Passage Funeral Home, 5 Cowbay Rd., Eastern Passage. Funeral mass officiated by Fr. Johni Mathew will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Andrew's Church, 1570 Shore Rd., Eastern Passage. The family will be greeting friends at a reception to be held directly following the funeral mass at St. Andrews Parish Centre, 27 McKays Lane, Eastern Passage. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the IWK Children's Hospital. To my dearest family, I want you to know that I arrived OK in heaven, where there are no tears or sadness, just Eternal Love! So please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight. Remember that I am with you every morning, noon and night. Wilfred 'Bill' Leon Born In: Sydney Passed in: Sydney Passed on: September 13th, 2013 It is with profound sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of our father, grandfather and best friend on Friday, Sept. 13, 2013, at home. Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Theophile and Fanny (Ethesse) Leon. Papa, as his children and grandchildren knew him, was a veteran of the Second World War and a lifetime member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 12. Until his retirement which was over 30 years ago, Bill was employed by Sydney Steel, working as a bricklayer in which he took great pride. He cherished all his friends and has built many fireplaces for them over the years. Papa will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humour along with his dedication to his family, friends and his "Puma". Papa was a Scout Master for 35 years at Sacred Heart parish where he eatablished life long friends. His time on the Mira at his bungalow and the memories he made will be forever cherished. When and where ever he spoke to someone he always left them with a little more pep in their step. Bill was a member of Sacred Heart Church. Bill is survived by his two daughters, Elaine (Michael) McGrath and Carolyn (Frank) Schilte and one son, Jim (Dianna); his loving grandchildren, Jenna, Shane, Denise, Frankie, Jeanne, Michelle and Vincent; great-grandchildren, Kaia, Tate, Eowyn, Christen, Kaylinna, Ethan and Kenza; his sisters, Marg Forgarty and Julie MacPherson. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Agnes (Burns), and brother, Albert and sister, Burnadet. Hillier Born In: New Haven Passed in: North Sydney Passed on: September 14th, 2013 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear mother, grandmother, sister-in-law and friend, Reta Hillier, on Saturday, Sept.14, 2013, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Born in New Haven, Victoria County, she was the daughter of the late John R. and Elizabeth (Neal) Rogers. In her younger years, Reta had been employed as a telephone operator, and later as a sales clerk with Alteens jewelers and Ingrahm's United, both in North Sydney. She was an active member of St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, North Sydney, having been involved with the ACW and Altar Guild. She was also a member of the North Sydney Senior Citizens and Pensioners Club. Reta is survived by her daughter, Betty Ferguson, Burlington, Ont.; by her grandchildren, Alisa (Clayton) George and Cory Ferguson; her great-grandchildren, Sidney Ferguson, Kayden, Donel and Lindon George; her sister-in-law, Lorraine Rogers and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Cecil Hillier, an infant son, Johnny, brothers, Henry and Luke Rogers, her sister, Mary. Visitation for Reta will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in the W.J. Edna Carlotta MacDonald Passed in: Port Morien Passed on: September 15th, 2013 It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Edna MacDonald, 85, of Port Morien. Edna passed away at her residence on Sunday, Sept. 15, 2013, surrounded by her family. Born in Port Morien, Edna was the daughter of the late Murray and Margaret (Boutilier) Peach. She was a faithful member of St. Paul's Anglican Church, Port Morien. Edna was a former employee of the Modern Clothing General Store in Port Morien. She was also employed as a post mistress in Port Morien retiring after 22 years of service. Edna enjoyed being at home, cooking and baking. Edna will be sadly missed by her husband, Angus. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, friends and neighbours. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Besides her parents, Edna was predeceased by her sisters, Marjorie, Ruth, Jean and Elizabeth, in infancy, brothers, Charlie, Leslie, Bill and Brenton. The family would like to thank Palliative Care, VON, Homemakers, Dr. Diaz and her staff, who were so kind and compassionate to Edna during her illness. Christopher Anthony 'Chris' Rudnicki Born In: Edmonton, Canada Born: December 20th, 1989 Passed in: Sydney Mines Passed on: September 12th, 2013 With our hearts broken we announce the passing of our son, grandson, and nephew on Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013, as a result of a motor vehicle accident. Born in Edmonton, Alta., he was the son of Nancy (Bonner) and the late Anthony Rudnicki. Chris had many passions in life; he loved his girlfriend Ashlee Halloran, his dog Snoopy, going out with his friends, playing Guitar Hero, playing paintball, eating at Boston Pizza, and he loved his work at Home Depot and the people that worked there with him made it a great place. Chris is survived by his mother, Nancy; his maternal grandmother, Helen Bonner; uncles, Tom (Sylvia) Bonner, Robin (Catherine Mary Hardy) Bonner, of Edmonton, Alta., Scott (Jennifer) Bonner, Halifax, Bill Rudnicki, Peter (Cheryl) Rudnicki; aunts, Barb (Rick) Longstaff, Zena (Bert) Reimer, all of Manitoba, and Norma Bonner, Edmonton, Alta. and all of his cousins. Chris was predeceased by his father, Anthony, brother, William, maternal grandfather, Cecil Bonner, his paternal grandparents, Bazyl and Pela Rudnicki. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Fillmore and Whitman Funeral Home, Sydney Mines. A memorial service will take place at a later date. Lloyd Vincent Marchesin Born In: New Waterford Passed in: New Waterford Passed on: September 8th, 2013 It is with great sadness the family wish to announce the passing of Lloyd Marchesin at home on Sept. 8, 2013. Born in New Waterford, he was the son of the late Sam and Catherine (Gatto) Marchesin. In earlier years Lloyd worked at the Steel Plant and the Heavy Water Plant. Lloyd was a kind person and over the years has volunteered his services to the St. Vincent de Paul Society and the Parish of Saint Leonard, he liked walking, gardening, loved country music. He is survived by his wife, Jane, the love of his life; his sons, Barry (Stacey), Thomas and Samuel; sisters, Rose (Thomas) Head, Cecelia Liebeck and Madonna; grandchildren, Selena, Miranda and Little Barry, who were his pride and joy. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by brothers, Donnie, Joseph, Gary and sister, Lorraine Burke. Cremation has taken place and a funeral service will be held Wednesday, Sept. 18 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel at McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Ave., New Waterford, with Fr.
