He leaves behind the love of his life, Peggy. Bill adored his three daughters and his grandson Keith of whom he was so proud. Bill loved his many friends and neighbours. He loved watching baseball and hockey, especially the Habs. Bill loved to make people laugh, often using his computer to share a joke or funny story. Dad was a proud veteran, having served overseas in both Germany and Cyprus. He was an avid legion bowler for over 50 years. He loved the outdoors, gardening and spending summers in Cheticamp. Dad worked for 30 years at Municipal Ready Mix. Born in Glace Bay, spending most of his childhood in Gabarus Lake, he was the son of the late William and Phyllis (Bond) MacInnis. Bill is survived by his wife of 49 years Margaret 'Peggy' (MacNeil); his daughters, Lisa (Hughie) MacInnis, Deborah (Jason) MacInnis and Pamela (Alan) Kowalczyk, and grandson, Keith Kowalczyk; sisters, Marion, Gladys, Norma and Shirley and brother, Melvin. Bill is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Bill was predeceased by his son-in-law, Sean, sisters, June, Lorraine, Jeanette, and brother, Phillip. The family would like to thank Charlotte and Lodge Mulak, and their family, for all their love and support through this difficult time. Jimmy MacNeil Passed in: Alder Point Passed on: September 22nd, 2013 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our son, brother, uncle and great friend Jimmy McNeil. He passed away on Sunday evening Sept. 22, 2013, at the Northside General Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Jimmy was the son of Florence and the late Earl McNeil. Jimmy was very fortunate to have many people in his life who loved and cared for him. He was a huge link in the McNeil family and also belonged to the Blue Mist Family. Paul, Janice and all his friends at the mist meant the world to him. He could be found on his corner stool with his favourite mug every night of the week. He truly loved being the center of everyone's attention. His smile and innocence was endearing. Jimmy's hobbies included countless hours of viewing family photos, boating ventures on the Fun Boat, playing on his computer and collecting pins, watches, hats and Harley Davidson memorabilia. In his early years Jimmy could be seen hitch hiking almost anywhere. He will surely be missed by many. Jimmy is survived by his mother, Florence; brothers, Joey McNeil (Cecilia), Gary McNeil (Jane); sisters, Nancy LeBlanc, Anita Finney (Neil), Angie Penny (Chris), Donna Boutilier (Joey), Tracey McNeil (Jack); neices and nephews, Teresa, Amy (Kim), Michelle (Andrew), April (Jeff), Kyle (Amanda), Kelly (Mitchell), DJ (Madonna), Allen, Jenny, Brody, Chantel and Kassidy; greatniece and nephews, Abbi, Nate, Jace and Jesse. Jimmy had a special place in his heart for his extended family Chris and Jeff Rendall and their children Cody, Jacob, Nathan and Bryce. Jimmy is also survived by his many aunts and uncles, Rev. Fr. Ray O'Toole, Bobby O'Toole (Marje), Dean Power, Shirley MacQuarrie (Clyde), Lenore MacIntyre (Barry), Nathan McNeil (Lorraine), David McNeil (Elizabeth) and many cousins. Jimmy was predeceased by his father, Earl, brother, Shaun, sister, Mary (in infancy), brother-in-law, James LeBlanc, grandparents, Angus and Gladys McNeil and Raymond and Ella O'Toole. The McNeil Family will receive visitors on Wednesday, Sept. 25 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Francis Funeral Home, Sydney Mines. Helen (Krasowski) Fagan Born In: Sydney Passed on: September 23rd, 2013 It is with saddened and broken hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our mother into the Kingdom of God on Monday, Sept. 23, 2013. Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Anastacia (Badre) Krasowski and the wife of the late Henry Fagan. Mom lived a very busy and fulfilling life raising her family. She played her favourite tunes on her harmonica or accordion. An avid gardener, mom spent many hours outdoors tending to her perfect flowers. As a young woman, she worked for various families in Whitney Pier and also lived in Toronto, working at Loblaws. In later years, she worked for Mason's Wholesale in Sydney. Mom had special memories of her pilgrimages to St. Anne de Beaupré with her mom, sisters, daughters and granddaughter. Surviving are her daughters, Marian and her children, Carrie and Kelly, Alberta; Teresa, Sydney; Roberta 'Etta' (Don) and their children, Patrick and Erin, Sydney; Patsy (Jim) and their children, Jesse and Mary Helen (Joey), Ottawa and Eileen (Tim) and their children, Brittany and Kristen, Sydney; great-grandson, Liam; and many nieces and nephews. Mom is the last surviving member of the Krasowski family. She was predeceased by her brother, Joe 'Tiger Joe' and sisters, Katie, Mary, Stella and Kay Krasowski and Julie Mosher. Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel today (Tuesday) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at St. Mary's Polish Church, Wesley Street, Whitney Pier on Wednesday 2 p.m., with Rev. Chris Anthony passed away on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, with his loving family by his side. Born in Germany, he was the son of the late Edward and Ella (Lundius) Christiansen and was a former member of St. James Church, Gardiner Mines. He was a carpenter by trade, a trade he truly enjoyed for the past 35 years and was a member of The United Brotherhood of Carpenters & Joiners of America Union, Local 1588 in Sydney. He also enjoyed getting to know the people he did work for over the years; many of whom he considered as good friends. He was a jack-of-all-trades being able to turn his hand to any task when a problem arose. As a young man Chris Anthony worked for years on his family owned dairy farm in Gardiner Mines. He was a very outgoing man and loved all the conversations he had with his wealth of friends. Chris Anthony loved spending time with his family, especially watching his special granddaughter Miranda barrel racing and watching his other grandchildren playing basketball. Chris Anthony will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Frances (McNeil); son, Edward (Sherry) Gardiner Mines; daughters Kimberly (Daniel), Alberta, Wendy (Wesley), Gardiner Mines; his five grandchildren, Miranda "His Baby Girl", Chelsea "His Little Girl", Dawson "His Best Buddy" and Anthony and Austin "His Little Men"; sister, Erika, Gardiner Mines; brothers Jens, Alberta, Peter (Kim), Eddie (Debbie), both of Gardiner Mines; brother-in-law, Morley Miller, Winnipeg; special nephew Peter Shannon, numerous nieces, nephews, friends and his K9 companion Myah. Gerald Steele Born In: Sydney Passed in: Sydney Passed on: September 22nd, 2013 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gerald Vincent Steele on Sept. 23, 2013 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Frank and Jenny (Shears) Steele. Dad worked at Sydney Steel as a crane operator until his retirement in the mid 80's. He was a past member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a loving father of sons, Ronald (Patricia) and Frank and daughter, Vivian (Eugene); survived by granddaughters, Terrina, Tammy and Karen; grandsons, Jason, Shawn, Cory and Terry and eight great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson. Also survived by sisters, Bernice Lewis, Ann MacMullin and brother, George Steele; brother-in-law, Jack (Evelyn) Dean; sister-in-law, Ann MacLeod and by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Edna in 1998; brothers, Billy, Pat, Ronald and Frank. Thank you to the VON and Patricia MacAulay for their help with dad over the past year. Hubert Head Passed on: September 15th, 2013 Hubert Head, formerly of New Waterford, passed away on his 88th birthday on Sept. 15, 2013. Survived by sisters, Millie and Emma and her husband Clarence. Pearl Isabel (Macdonald) Mackeigan-cosnick 99, Glace Bay Pearl Isabel (MacDonald) MacKeigan-Cosnick passed away on Sept. 20, 2013, at her home in Glace Bay, N.S. Pearl was born and educated in Glace Bay schools. Although she travelled extensively, she resided in Glace Bay all her life. She was a member of St. Paul's Presbyterian Church, and was active in many organizations of the church. She was employed in the office of the Glace Bay General Hospital for 27 years. While employed there, she was active in union affairs, as a member and an officer. She was charter member of Brookside Home and School. She was a 75-year member (19382013) of Jubilee Rebekah Lodge 14; a past district president and an active member of the Past Noble Grands Club.Her name was synonymous with that of the Progressive Conservative Party. She was the recipient of the Life Membership Award in the Women's PC Association of N.S. in 2001. She was named as volunteer of the year, in recognition of over 65 years as a member and volunteer of both provincial and federal associations. Undaunted by age or distance, Pearl was a valued commissioner of the Expropriation Board, Halifax, for several years. Pearl is survived by her daughter, Lail MacKeigan, Dundas, Ont.; four sons, Jimmie (Linda), Hudson's Hope, B.C., John Murdoch ( Joan), London, Ont., Stuart (Diane), Tillsonburg, Ont., Calvin (Mora Ann), Glace Bay; three stepdaughters, Carole Ann, Edmonton, Alta., Marje Miller, Sydney, Claire Christiansen, Gardiner; and two stepsons, Donald, Gardiner, Chris, Edmonton, Alta.; 19 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; special niece, Isabel Strong; dear friends, Jan Whiting and Mora McPhee; and special sister-in-law, June MacKeigan. Pearl was predeceased by her two husbands, Neil MacKeigan (1969) and Gussie Cosnick (1992), a stepdaughter, Joan Cosnick (1979), and half-brother, John Gordon. Visitation for Pearl was held at Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union St., Glace Bay, today (Monday, Sept. 23) from 7-9 p.m. and will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 24 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 25, in St. Paul's Presbyterian Church with Rev.
