Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Carrie (Dean) Jewells. She was employed as a trimmer at the Ka'Le Bay Seafoods. Diane enjoyed bowling, loved to dance and playing pranks on people, especially a piece of cake in the face. Diane is survived by her companion, Clifford Hoban; her son, Blaine Jewells, North Attleboro, Mass.; stepson, David (Lynn) Hoban, Glace Bay; grandson, Matthew Jewells, North Attleboro, Mass.; stepgrandchildren, Cody and Haley Hoban, Glace Bay. She is also survived by sisters, Myrna (David) George, Glace Bay, Ethel (John) Spencer, Port Morien, Linda (Watson) Wilson, Donkin; brothers, Edward (Norita), Donkin, Roy, John (Linda), and Terry (Natalie), all of Glace Bay, Gary, Florida, and Carl (Jeanette), Halifax; brothe-in-law, Tim (Betty) Hoban; sisters-in-law Joanie (Garnet) MacKay, and Shirley (Hughie) MacKay, as well as many nieces and nephews, and close friends, Vivian, Jean Anne and Patsy. Besides her parents, Diane was predeceased by her daughter-in-law, Susan Jewells, stepson, Robbie Hoban, sister, Leah Agnes Ann Jewells and sister-in-law, Mary MacKenzie. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Monday, Sept. 30, 2013, at 11 a.m. in the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home Chapel, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney. Interment in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens following a reception at the funeral home. Donations in Diane's memory may be made to the Cape Breton Palliative Care Unit, CBRH.
