'Jerry' Hibbs - 60 yrs Calvin "Bucky'" Neal - 88 yrs John "Beanie" MacLean - 72 yrs Gerald 'Jerry' Hibbs Born: April 2nd, 1953 Passed on: September 14th, 2013 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jerry Hibbs due to a tragic accident on Sept. 14, 2013. Jerry was the son of the late Frank Hibbs and Geraldine Stoker. Jerry was employed with Devco for 17 years. He was an avid woodsman and was always there to help anyone who needed it. Besides his boys, Jerry had one passion, his muscle car. He got to live out that dream two years ago when he was able to race his 1969 Road Runner with his boys, brothers and his friends known as his pit crew and his angels Jeannie, Sonya, Elicia and Barb. Jerry was well-known and had many friends. He will be missed by all. Jerry is survived by sons, Steven (Megan) and his little buddy, Landon, Andrew, their mother, Gail and the love of his life, Linda (his love muffin); brothers, Brian, Kevin (Barb), Bobby (Jeannie), Frank (Anna), Dwight (Belinda) and Derrick; sisters, Arlene (Gary Peach), Karen (Stanley Peach), Margie (Jason), Michelle and Lindsay as well as many nieces and nephews, of whom he was very proud. He was predeceased by sister, Trina and nephew, Gregory. The visitation will be on Saturday, Sept. 21 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Curry's Funeral Home, 775 Main St., Glace Bay. A celebration of life will be on Sunday, Sept. 22 at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Calvin 'Bucky' Neal Born In: Glace Bay Passed in: Sydney River Passed on: September 18th, 2013 It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Calvin Neal on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013, at Harbourstone Enhanced Care Facility. Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Joseph and Olive (Grantmeyer) Neal. He was an avid fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs. He was a kind and gentle person. He will be truly missed. Bucky is survived by his brothers, Glenmore (Helen) Neal, James Hill; sisters, Oretha Hill and Muriel Deveaux; as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Alex Morrison, Edward Morrison and Harry Hill. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013, from 2-3:45 p.m. with a prayer service at 3:45 p.m. at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney, with Rev. John 'Beanie' MacLean Passed in: New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed on: September 12th, 2013 We the MacLean family, heartbreakingly announce the passing of our husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Beanie MacLean, on Sept. 12, 2013, at the Palliative Care Unit, Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, N.S. Beanie was the son of the late Joseph F. and Tessie (Ryan) MacLean. He is survived by his wife, Sheila (Springall) MacLean, New Waterford; son, Duane, Ontario; daughter, Denise, P.E.I.; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; brothers, Joey (Frances), New Glasgow, Ryan (Annette), Stellarton, Greg (Patricia) and sister, Faith, Sydney River; also several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, who he thought the world of and loved dearly and they also shared those feelings toward him. He also leaves to mourn, his best friend since childhood, Barry Trenholm, Trenton, N.S. Beanie was an avid baseball, hockey and golf fan and played these sports in his younger and healthier days. He was inducted into the New Waterford Sports Hall of Fame as a member of the New Waterford Giants Maritime Championship Baseball team from 1964-1965. He also loved washer toss and tried to rope anyone in his company into playing it and he retired undefeated. He could be a tad loud occasionally, but he was truly a giant teddy bear with a heart of gold. Those who really knew Beanie, also knew the kind of man he really was. Cremation has taken place under the direction of McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Ave., New Waterford. A chapel service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013, at 1 p.m. with Fr. Ray Huntley officiating. A get-together will be held at 93 Parkwood Dr., Sydney River, following the service for anyone wishing to attend. Weather permitting; washer toss games will be played.
