Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013, in Rose Blanche, N.L. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Patten Funeral Home, Glace Bay. Kathlyn Patterson Peach Born In: Catalone Born: April 14th, 1920 Passed in: Mira Gut Passed on: October 2nd, 2013 It is with great sadness that we the family announce the passing of Kathlyn Patterson Peach at the Glace Bay Hospital on Oct, 2, 2013. Born in Catalone, Kathlyn was four-years old when her father Sidney passed away. She was the daughter of the late Sidney and Maude M. MacDonald. Kathlyn was raised by Mort and Isabel Skinner in New Aberdeen, along with half brothers, Dick, Burford and Eric.Kathlyn married Arthur Peach of Port Morien in 1940. In 1955 the family moved to Canton, Mass., and she and Arthur returned to Cape Breton in 1975, settling in Mira Gut. Since the passing of her husband Arthur in 2000, Kathlyn lived in the senior housing unit in Port Morien. Survived by son, Eric, South Easton, Mass.; four grandchildren, Lois, Eric, Josh, Raymond all in Massachusetts; great-grandchildren, Matt, Ezra, Evans, Haley and Danny and half sisters, Georgina Milley, Alice MacQueen. Predeceased by parents, husband, Arthur, daughter, Lois, sisters, Margaret Campbell, Mary Blakely, brothers, Allison, Arthur, John, adoptive brothers, Eric Skinner, Burford Skinner. Visitation will be held in Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union St., Glace Bay, on Friday, Oct. 4, 2013, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013. in Union Presbyterian Church in Albert Bridge at 11 a,m, with Rev. John Joseph Rambeau Born In: South Harbour Born: May 6th, 1926 Passed in: White Point Passed on: September 29th, 2013 It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of John Joseph Rambeau on Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born in South Harbour, John Joseph was the son of the late William Francis and Beatrice (Daisley) Rambeau. He also was the stepson of the late stepmothers, Sophie Anne (Daisley) Rambeau and Effie (MacKinnon) Rambeau. Left to mourn is John Joseph best friend and companion, Mary Hawley; son, Eddie (Allison) Hawley and Poppy John to Bailey and Jesse. Also left to mourn are his daughter, Agnes (Melvin) Pearo and his two granddaughters, Jenny (Jerome) and Joy (Ash); daughter, Violet (Murdock) Burton; his grandson, Jamie (Amy); grandson, Murdock(Lynda) and his great-grandchildren, Ethan and Vincent; granddaughter, Mary Catherine (Charles) and great-granddaughter, Azraelle; daughter, Marlene Rambeau (Vince); daughter, Jean (Terry) Hogan and his grandson, Matt (Stacey) Hogan; great-grandchildren, Nathan and Mya; brother-in-law, Lloyd (Joyce) Greek; niece, Cathy and grandnieces, Ashley and Allison; nephew, Shane (Kendra) Greek; Cathy and Shane's mom, Wanda. John Joseph is also survived by his sister in-Law, Emma Rambeau; brother-in-Law, Leslie Buffett; nephew, Meech (Lori) Rambeau and his grandniece and grandnephew, Tiffany and Chris; nephew, Kenneth Grant (Gwynny) Buffett and his grandnephew and grandniece, Samual and Kyla; two special Aunts, Jessie Fitzgerald and Georgina Briand; and Walter Dixon of Marion Bridge. John Joseph was predeceased by his first wife, Effie Catherine Dixon, second wife, Ellen Jane Dunphy, sisters, Beatrice in infancy and Effie Mae, brother, Cecil, brother-in-law, Hector MacKinnon, nephew, 'Little' Archie MacKinnon and his grandparents, Stephen and Fanny Rambeau with whom he spent a lot of his early years with. Dad spent his whole life as a fisherman. He started at the age of 11 with his father, Frank in the snapper boat 'Rambeaus'. He fished for 73 years and ending at the age of 83 in the boat named 'John Joseph' fishing with his grandson, Jamie. At John Joseph's request, cremation has taken place. Visitation for the late John Joseph Rambeau will be held on Friday, Oct. 4, 2013, at St. Francis Hall, Smelt Brook, beginning at 2 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated Saturday, Oct. 5, at 2 p.m. in St Joseph's Church, Dingwall, with Fr. Ajit Kerketta officiating. Interment will take place in the parish cemetery. A reception following the committal will be held at St. Francis Hall, Smelt Brook. Donations in memory of John Joseph may be made to a charity of one's choice. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Cape Breton Regional Hospital, CCU and 4A, doctors and nurses at Buchanan Memorial Hospital and to the home care staff for the care given to John Joseph during his time of need. Mary 'Gen' Spence Born In: Sydney Passed in: Sydney Passed on: October 1st, 2013 Mary Genevieve Spence of Lynne Drive, Sydney, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, after a sudden illness. Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late John and Veronica (Corbett) Burke. Gen was the loving wife of Darrell; dear mother of Doug (Carole) and Arnold (Cindy), both of Sydney, and Jamie (Tracy), Dieppe, N.B.; loving grandmother to Leanne, Kiefer, Samantha, Matthew and Elliott. She is also survived by her loving brothers, Thomas (Gayle) Burke and Frank (Charlotte) Burke, Sydney; brothers-in-law, Keith Whiteland and Bob Fagan; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Theresa DiSano, Betty 'Toots' Edwards and Sally Antinello, brother, John 'Beebs,' as well as two brothers in infancy, and brothers-in-law, Jim Antinello, Joseph DiSano and Charlie Edwards. Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the chapel on Friday, 2 p.m. with Rev. Boyce Elliott officiating. Interment in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the Diabetes Association.
