Cape Breton Deaths courtesy of CAPE BRETON GENEALOGY & HISTORICAL ASSOCIATION VISIT OUR WEBSITE - <http://www.cbgen.org/>www.cbgen.org NEW MEMBERS WELCOME Cape Breton Deaths October 09, 2013 Wednesday There are 2 obituaries published today Annie Marie 'Mary' McLean - 89 yrs Stanley Archibald Murrant - 84 yrs Annie Marie 'Mary' McLean Born: June 25th, 1924 Passed in: Glace Bay Passed on: October 7th, 2013 We are greatly saddened to announce the death of Mary McLean (Arsenault). She passed away with her loving daughter Roberta and only granddaughter Michelle by her side, easing her way through her final journey. Mary is survived by her daughters, Roberta (Larry) and Audrey; her granddaughter, Michelle (Geoff); great-granddaughter, Sara (David) and great-great-granddaughter, Vanessa. She is also survived by her beloved brother, Raymond (Mary); her niece, Cecile; sister-in-law, Audrey (Gerard) and many more dear family members. Mary was predeceased by her husband Robert in 1971, whom she loved dearly and by her son-in-law Larry in 1986 whom she looked upon more as a son. As well, her special brother-in-law Mel and the many other family members who have gone before her. She is united again with her parents, her sister Elsie and brothers, Joey, Alan, Butch, Greg and Billy. Mary will always be our shining star looking brightly down upon us with a loving smile. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Danuta Kajatenovic, The VON Day Program, the nursing staff at Taigh Solas and the nurses in the IMCU at the Northside General Hospital. Everyone took such wonderful care of Mary and for that we will forever be grateful. A special thank you goes out to Sonya and Agnes who were supportive during this long and difficult time. Visitation for Mary will be held at 12.30 p.m. until the time of service at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 10 in Patten Funeral Home Chapel, 71 Union St., Glace Bay, with Fr. Patrick O'Neill officiating. Burial will be in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Bridge Port. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Canada. Stanley Murrant Born In: Port Morien Born: March 27th, 1929 Passed in: Port Morien Passed on: October 6th, 2013 We, the family of Stanley Archibald Murrant, announce his passing on Sunday, Oct. 6, 2013, at home, with family at his side. Born in Port Morien, he was the son of the late William and Blanche (Brann) Murrant. He was a successful commercial fisherman, many of those years with his son Allan. In his younger years he worked in Broughton coal mines and as a snowplow operator for the Department of Highways. His passion was fishing, especially swordfish. He loved hunting rabbits and in his retirement walking at Schooner Pond, Morien sandbar and Sand Lake Road. Surviving are son, Allan (Cathy) Murrant, Sand Lake; daughter, Sharon (Donald) Cameron, Mabou; sister, Joyce (Albert) Hopper; brothers, Eddie (Blanche), Glace Bay, Nelson 'Ness' (Sandra), Long Beach; grandchildren, Kevin, Emily, Erin Murrant, Allan Stuart Cameron. Predeceased by his parents, brother, Jimmy and sister, Ella Stoddard. Visitation for Stanley will be held at Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union St., Glace Bay, on Thursday, Oct. 10 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. with Rev. Clayton Austin officiating in Patten Funeral Home Chapel. Burial in Black Brook Cemetery. Donations may be made to Alzheimer Society, SPCA or charity of one's choice.
