Campbell Retired nurse at Boston University School of Medicine, participated in the 1928 Olympics Florence E. (MacDonald) Campbell, 98, of South Boston, formerly of Cape Breton, Nova Scotia and Randolph, May 6, 2008. Wife of the late Peter Campbell. Daughter of the late Angus R. and Mary (Currie) MacDonald. Mrs. Campbell was born in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, and lived in Boston, and then Randolph for about 90 years. She was a retired nurse who worked at Boston University School of Medicine, Research Unit, for 25 years. As Florence MacDonald, she participated in the 1928 Olympics at Amsterdam in the 800 meters for the United States. Mrs. Campbell leaves her children, June Marie Russo and her husband, Louis P. Russo of Plymouth and John Scott Campbell and his wife, Joan M. Pelland of Bradenton, Fla.; her grandchildren, Andrew Russo and his wife Fidelma Russo of Sudbury and Lois Anne Russo of Devens; and her great-grandchildren, Courtney Anne and Daniel Blute and Katelyn and Julie Anne Russo. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Christina E. MacDonald and Margaret Janowicz. Arrangements by Cartwright Funeral Home. Funeral Mass Saturday, May 10, 10 a.m. in the chapel at Marian Manor Nursing Home, 130 Dorchester St., South Boston, MA 02127. Interment in St. Mary Cemetery, Randolph.
