Raised in Little Judique, he was the son of the late John Archie (Jim Sandy) and Catherine Christine (MacLellan) MacDonald. Duncan worked construction all over Canada and was a proud member of the Labourer International Union of North America Local 1115 and later Local 92. He was an avid outdoors man who enjoyed fishing, hunting, and working around the yard. He also enjoyed laughing and joking around the card table with his friends and family. He is survived by his wife, Pearline (Beaton); sons Robert (Emily), Ainsle Glen; Michael (Gwen), Lower Sackville; Gavin, Little Judique; sister Caddy MacDonald, Little Judique; brothers Archie, Port Hood; John Angus, Inverness; Donald and Dougal of Little Judique; grandson Archie Duncan, Ainsle Glen. He was predeceased by sisters Mary Bell, Anna, Barbra and Mary Jessie; brothers Jimmy, Bill, Hughie D and Malcolm. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday, November 4th at 11:00 a.m. in St. Peter`s Catholic Church, Port Hood, with Father Bernie MacDonald officiating. Burial followed in the parish cemetery. Donations in memory of the late Duncan MacDonald may be made to a charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Sunset Funeral Co-operative, Margaree Valley. Online condolences may be sent to [email protected] MURRAY John Duncan “John D.”, 91, Orangedale, Inverness County, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 3rd, 2013, in Victoria County Memorial Hospital, Baddeck. Born on May 27th, 1922, in Orangedale East, he was a son of the late Duncan and Tilla (MacInnis) Murray. He was a member of Orangedale Presbyterian Church as well as an elder for many years. John D. was a hard worker and was employed for 38 years as a section man with the C.N.R. He was also a member of the Orangedale Station Association. John D will be missed by many people, especially his caregiver and angel, Donna, as well as his little companion, Snowflake. He is survived by sister Jessie Lewis, Wilburn; sister-in-law Ethel Murray, Orangedale East; and several nieces. He was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Christene (MacRae), for whom he cared for at home for many years; sister Mary Baker; brother Lewis Murray; infant brother Malcolm; brothers-in-law Charles Lewis Sr. and Percy Baker; nephews Charles Lewis Jr. and George Baker. Special thanks to Dr. Chow, nurses and staff at Victoria County Memorial Hospital. Visitation was held Tuesday, November 5th in the Dennis Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Whycocomagh. Funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 6th from Orangedale Presbyterian Church, Orangedale, with Rev. Andrew MacDonald officiating, burial in Malagawatch Cemetery.
