'Kaye' MacLean - 95 yrs Kimberly Kilback Born In: Richmond, British Columbia, Canada Passed in: North Sydney Passed on: November 17th, 2013 With heartfelt sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Kimberly Karen Kilback, 47, beloved daughter, sister, aunt, partner and friend on Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Born in Richmond, B.C., she was the daughter of Larry and Carol (Partington) Kilback. Kimberly was a very energetic person with a strong work ethic. She worked in various careers throughout her life, beginning with the insurance industry, she later became a registered financial adviser, which she worked at for several years. She would follow her dream of attending school to become a hairdresser and owning her own business and in 2007 she opened her own salon "The Purple Mango" in North Sydney. She adopted Cape Breton as her home, became active in her community and enjoyed fundraising for various causes and charities. Kimberly had a great sense of humour and love for sewing and crafts and will be sadly missed. Besides her parents, Larry and Carol Kilback, Kelowna, she is also survived by her partner Diane Hatcher, North Sydney; two brothers, Dean (Cathy) Kilback, and their children Alicia and Andrew, Surrey, B.C., and Phillip (Britney) Kilback, and their daughter Makayla, Nanaimo, B.C. Also surviving are several aunts, uncles and cousins, her second family the Hatchers and also her special friend and business associate Lisa Wylde. Visitation for Kimberly will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Stacey LeMoine officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the C.B. Regional Cancer Center or Palliative Care Society of Nova Scotia. Online condolences may be made to www.wjdooley.com Ronald 'Rannie' Michael Black Born In: Sydney Passed in: Sydney River Passed on: November 16th, 2013 It is with broken hearts that we the family announce the passing of Rannie Black on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013, at Taigh Na Mara, Glace Bay. Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Stephen and Sarah (MacSween) Black. He served overseas during the Korean War, and later was an forklift operator with Victoria Plywood, Victoria, B.C. before retiring home to Sydney. He enjoyed camping in B.C. with his family and travelling across Canada. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion in Victoria, B.C. Rannie is survived by his loving wife, Ruth Muriel (Edmunds) Black; daughter, Ruth-Ann Black (Robert Jessome), Sydney; sons, Stephen Black, Victoria, B.C., Trevor (Carmen) Black, Sooke, B.C., his pride and joy, his grandchildren, Shauna Black, Andrew and Kimberly Powell and T.J. Black; brothers, Allison 'Skelly' Black, Sydney, Stephen 'Billy' (Susan) Black, B.C.; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was the son of the late Joe and Alice (MacMillan) Garland. He was a construction truck driver for Martell's Construction for 25 years before retiring. His passion was for horses, trucks and watching TV. He will be sadly missed by his four daughters, Lynn, Velda (Eugene), Scarina and Verne; sister, Edith Morrison; brother, Charles (Norma);grandchildren, Selwyn, Margaret Ann, Shawn, Dereck and Victoria, Katelyn, Scott and his great-grandchildren, Jamee, MacKenzie, Breton, Logyn and Jack, Isla and Cooper. Eric Donovan Born: May 6th, 1966 Passed in: Prince Edward Island Passed on: November 11th, 2013 It is with deep regret we announce the passing of Eric Donovan, 47, on Nov. 11 in P.E.I. Beloved husband of Lisa (Conway), loving father to Emma Kate and Devin Donovan. Anthony MacKinnon Born In: Florence Born: February 29th, 1952 Passed in: Sydney Mines Passed on: November 18th, 2013 We regret to announce the passing of Anthony MacKinnon, 61, of Fraser Ave., Sydney Mines, on Monday, November 18, 2013, at home, surrounded by his loving family. Anthony fought a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Florence on February 29, 1952, he was the son of the late Steven and Florence (Coakley) MacKinnon of Florence. Anthony was an employee of Sobeys, North Sydney, for 25 years. He was a very hard worker, and he enjoyed serving the public. His work was halted by a pedestrian accident that caused him to be disabled. He was an active member of the Sydney Mines Pensioners Club and the Sydney Mines Legion. He was an enthusiastic volunteer, and enjoyed his time with his friends there. He was also a member of the St. Pius Church Men's Club. Anthony will be missed by his many friends. Anthony is survived by his loving wife Agnes, who looked after his every need until the end. He is also survived by his son Billy, who supported him through his life and his illness. Also surviving are siblings Adelaide Nixon, Johnny (Lil), Catherine (Gordon) Simmons, Henry (Louise), Marg MacIntyre, Leo (Jessie), Roddie (Connie), Frank (Sherry) and Sharon MacKinnon (Doug). Besides his parents, Anthony was predeceased by his brother Benny. Anthony's family would like to thank the physicians and staff of the Cape Breton Cancer Center, the Palliative Care Unit and visiting nurses, and the Northside General Hospital. Their care and consideration during this difficult time was greatly appreciated. Visitation for Anthony MacKinnon will be held on Wednesday, November 20, 2013, from 7-9 p.m. in J. M. Luce Marie Boudreau Passed in: Cheticamp Passed on: November 16th, 2013 Luce Marie passed away November 16, 2013. She was the daughter of the late George Deveau and Sophie (Boudreau) Deveau. Luce Marie was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who devoted her life to her family and career. She dedicated 22 years of her life to the Co-op Artisanale. She enjoyed a good game of two hundred. Her creative soul was evident through her hooked rugs, oil paintings and scenes of the National Park. Her passion for roses come to life in her artistic work. She was blessed with a beautiful singing voice. Luce Marie was a devoted Christian who found peace in her daily prayer. She is survived by her son Gerard Boudreau (Freda); daughters Lucille Poirier (Joseph Henri), Evangeline Maillet (Camille), Christine Belliveau (Alfred); brothers Vincent Deveau (Agnes), Ont., Paul Antoine Deveau (Patricia); sisters Germaine Chiasson, Josephine Coffin (Earl), Halifax; Eight grandchildren Jeanne (Gèlas), Louis (Amy), Ronald, Stefan (Celia), Christa (Logan), Janelle, Melanie and Elise. Predeceased by husband Joseph Athanase Boudreau; daughter Jeanne; sister Lucienne. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 20th, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Cheticamp Funeral Home. 'Kaye' MacLean, a resident of Harbourstone Enhanced Care, Sydney, passed away Friday, November 15, 2013, at Harbourstone. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late John R. and Florence (MacRae) MacDonald. Kaye was a member of St. Andrew's United Church, Sydney and formerly employed at the Spring Garden Villa. Mom was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Kaye is survived by her son, Donald 'Butch' (Judy), Sydney; daughter-in-law, Patricia MacLean, Danvers, Mass.; grandchildren, Anne Marie, Karen, John, Cathy, Tracy and Heather; and nine great-grandchildren. Kaye was predeceased by her husband, James; son, John 'Ripper'; sisters, Lena Pottle, Isabelle Carmichael and Christine Sheppard; and brothers, Donald and Gordon. Aunt Kaye will be fondly remembered by her special nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Saturday, November 30th at 1 p.m. followed by a memorial service in the chapel at 2 p.m., with Rev. Thomas Whent officiating.
