"Lonnie" MacMaster 80, of Foxborough, MA, died Friday, September 3, 2010 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was the son of the late Duncan and Mary (Curry) MacMaster of New Waterford, Nova Scotia, Canada. Dear husband of Helen Lorraine MacMaster, with whom he celebrated 55 years of marriage on September 3rd . They were married in 1955 at Mount Carmel Church, New Waterford, Nova Scotia, Canada. Lonnie leaves his daughters, Debbie Cuddihy and her husband Joe of Wrentham, Laura Kelleher and her husband Bill of Foxborough, Darlene Frietas of Plainville and his son Robert Scott MacMaster and his wife Karen of Foxborough. He was the loving grandfather of Joseph and Tara Cuddihy, Michael Kelleher and his wife Erin and Daniel Kelleher and his wife Molly, Ashley and Ryan Frietas, Meghan, Briana and the late Brandon MacMaster. He was also the proud great-grandfather of Shannon Kelleher. Lonnie is also survived by his sisters Agatha Piper, RN of Tewksbury, MA, Petch MacMaster of Dunstable, MA, Carol Lee York, RN of Sydney, Nova Scotia, Edith Ann Calder, RN of Kingston, Ontario and brothers Gordon of Port Hawkesbury, Nova Scotia and Erwin of Glace Bay, Nova Scotia. He was predeceased by brothers Elmer MacMaster, Carl MacMaster, Dr. Russell MacMaster, Dr. Duncan MacMaster and sisters Katherine McIsaac, RN, Laura MacLean, RN, and Jean Cooke, RN. He also leaves many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Born and raised in New Waterford, Nova Scotia, Lonnie attended St. Agnes School. Prior to moving to the United States Lonnie worked as a miner for the Dominion Coal Company of Nova Scotia. Lonnie settled in Foxboro, MA where he raised his family. He worked at the Foxboro Company for 20 years as a maintenance and repair mechanic. Lonnie also worked for 23 years at the Hockomock YMCA, acting as Facilities Manager for 10 years. He was also a retired Foxboro Call Firefighter. A communicant of St. Mary's Church in Foxborough, Lonnie was a Charter Member of the Foxborough Knights of Columbus. Lonnie enjoyed bird watching and also enjoyed many years camping with the Foxes Den Camping Club. He was known for his quick wit as he kept his family entertained with his funny sayings and stories from the past. His happiest times were spent when all of his family were together. Due to his kind and gentle ways he was loved by all who were lucky enough to have met him. Funeral Information Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend calling hours on Friday, September 10 from 4 - 8 pm at the Roberts and Sons Funeral Home, 30 South Street, Foxborough MA. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, September 11, at 11am at St. Mary's Church, 58 Carpenter Street, Foxborough, Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Foxborough.
