He leaves to cherish his memory two sons, Shaun (Jody) O'Connell of Calgary and Dan (Erin) O'Connell of Seattle, Washington and their mother, Ellie O'Connell of Medicine Hat; four grandchildren, Kaitlin, Daine, Sam and Jack; three brothers, Clarence (Jeanne) O'Connell of Florida, Willy O'Connell and Freddie (Bonnie) O'Connell all of Boston and one sister, Joan Beaton of Madison, New York. He was predeceased by his parents, Vera (Morrison) and Francis O'Connell; five brothers, David, Michael Francis, William, Beau and Lennie. Frank was born in New Waterford, Nova Scotia to a family of coal miners. He was raised in Nova Scotia and graduated from Mount Carmel High School and was the first in his family to attend University. He graduated from St. Francis Xavier University with a B.A. in 1966. He then attended Dalhousie Law School, graduating in 1969. He articled in Toronto and was called to the Bar of the Law Society of upper Canada in 1971. He then worked in Timmins and Northern Ontario for a few years. On March 2, 1974 he married Elena Majkutova and they moved to Alberta, and in 1975 he was appointed to the Law Society of Alberta. They settled in Medicine Hat where he became the City Solicitor, retiring in 1987 but continuing to practice law until the early 1990's. During his retirement he enjoyed spending time with family, friends and his grandchildren as well as taking his beloved Tia for walks. submitted by almagorra <[email protected]>
