He was the son of the late Ewen and Agnes (Clarke) MacAulay. Donald was born on April 7, 1926 in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. He was educated in the Glace Bay School System. He married his late wife Carole Marie (MacDonald) on Jan. 29, 1954 in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia. Donald was employed by the Canadian National Railroad as a mechanic and then a property manager for Marco Reality Trust in Brookline until his retirement. Formerly of Foxboro, Brookline and Glace Bay, Donald had been a resident of Franklin for the past five years. Donnie loved to square dance with his wife and enjoyed bowling. He looked forward to the trips to Cape Breton and camping at Normandy Farms with family and friends. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and looked forward to the "gathering of the cousins" both here and in Cape Breton. He was also an avid Boston Red Sox and Boston Bruins fan. Devoted husband of the late Carole Marie (MacDonald) MacAulay. Loving father of Kirk MacAulay of Norfolk and Luanne MacAulay of Franklin. Beloved grandfather of Kelsey, Nicole and Kyle MacAulay, all of Norfolk. Brother of Margaret and Katherine MacAulay and the late Ewen "Sonnie" MacAulay and Georgina Travers. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and a large extended family of friends. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend calling hours on Thursday, July 18 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Roberts and Sons Funeral Home, 30 South St., Foxboro. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Rock Hill Cemetery, Foxboro.
