God saw that our daughter was in pain and decided to take her as an Angel on Dec. 11, 2013. Gail was the daughter of Frank Michael and Jean Doris Googoo (Dennis) of Wagmatcook. Gail was a wonderful mother, she is survived by her four beautiful children which she adored very much twin girls Aveda Shine and Adeva Dream age five, (their father Craig Paul, Eskasoni), Katie Michelle, 16 and Quinn, 18, their father (Philip Martin, Millbrook). She is also survived by two brothers, Guy and Francis John (Nora Poulette), Wagmatcook; three sisters, Kimberly (Paul MacDonald), Membertou, Daphne and Mary Elizabeth, Wagmatcook; sister-in-law, Audrey Pierro and brother-in-law, Darryl Usher. Gail is also survived by her best friend, Crystal Ross, Indian Brook; nieces, Natasha, Kendll and Karla; nephews, Everette, Jeremy, Matt and Francis Jij; two great nieces, Kayryn and Kayrah Sack; godchild, Karla; godfather, Stephen Pierro (Boston), many aunties and uncles, Dennis's and Googoo's; step-aunts and step-uncles Doucette's and Sylliboy's of Eskasoni and step-grandfather, Abraham Doucette, Eskasoni. Gail Graduated from Wagmatcookewey School after which she joined the United States Armed Forces but could not pursue her dream due to illness. She went back to school where she achieved a degree as Microsoft Certified Professional. Gail loved to associate with people, she was a bright, intelligent and smart young lady with a great sense of humour and always a big smile, she also loved to travel with her friends. She will be sadly missed by all her family and friends and especially missed by her children. Gail was predeceased by her grandparents, Mary and Noel Joseph Dennis, Eskasoni, Katie and Michael Googoo, Wagmatcook, aunts, Janet Bernard and Francis Dennis, godmother and good friend, Marlene Dennis, Eskasoni, uncles, Earl, Allister (Sonny) Googoo and Allister Googoo, all of Wagmatcook. We would like to open our hearts and our door to welcome everyone to pay their respects in this time of sorrow at the home of the Late Gail Googoo, 27 Central Rd. off Humes Rear Road, Wagmatcook, starting at 4 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 17. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. at Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha Church, Wagmatcook, Thursday, Dec. 19 with Fr .Paul Abbas officiating. Burial to follow in Queen of the World Cemetery. Reginald Magliaro Born: January 18th, 1944 Passed in: Sydney Passed on: December 12th, 2013 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, Reginald 'Reg' Magliaro on Thursday Dec. 12, 2013, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, surrounded by his loving family after a lengthy illness. Reg was the son of the late Luigi and Elfina (Ranni) Magliaro. Reg is survived by his children, Reginald Jr. (Ruth), John (Patsy), Diana (Joe) Gallant, Peter (Joleen Kosolofski) and Michael (Natasha). He will be sadly missed by his 12 grandchildren, Christina (Liam) Ashleigh, John (Kayla Thibodeau), Jeremy, Marissa, Brandon, Melanie, Paulina, Nicole, Jayden, Breaha, Landon and Chayse. Reg is also survived by the mother of his children, Anna (Gale) Magliaro; brothers, Rudy, Sal and Freddy; longtime friend/daughter-in-law, Shirley (Brookman) Magliaro and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Reg was predeceased by his siblings, Anthony, Frances, Nicholas, Caroline, Joseph, Louis and Valerie. Cremation has taken place. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Church with Fr. Paul Murphy officiating. Following the mass a reception will be held at the Pier Community Funeral Home. A private family interment will take place in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens at a later date. Helen Marie Holt Born In: Florence Passed in: Florence/North Sydney Passed on: December 13th, 2013 Helen Marie (Robertson) Holt of North Sydney passed away peacefully on Dec. 13, 2013, at the Northside General Hospital with her close friend by her side. Born in Florence, she was the daughter of the late Barclay and Bertha (MacIntyre) Robertson. Helen is survived by several nieces and nephews and grandnieces, grandnephews and one godchild. Left to mourn are her close friends, George and Sherry Fraser, Tommy and Miriam Boudreau, Wilena LeBlanc and her Groves Point swimming buddies. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Barclay, David, sister-in-law, Dorothy and godmother Helen Barrie. Helen was an adherent of Our Lady of Fatima Church where she was an organist and choir member. She was a school teacher in Florence, teaching primary children her whole career and enjoying every day of it. After retirement she volunteered at the Florence Elementary School library for years. She will be fondly remembered as the "Library Lady." Some other passions in her life were; swimming, at Groves Point Beach and shopping the hours away. Helen will be remembered as a giving, kind and caring person. At Helen's request cremation has taken place. There will be a graveside committal at St. Stephen's Cemetery, Florence, on Tuesday Dec. 17 at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Norman MacPhee officiating. Rosalie Elizabeth (Martin) McGuigan Born In: Sydney Passed in: Sydney Passed on: December 12th, 2013 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Rosalie Elizabeth (Martin) McGuigan, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, on Dec. 12, 2013. Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Agnes (Gerrior) Martin. To all who knew her, Rosie will be remembered for her love of the outdoors and especially as an avid fisher. She was well loved and enjoyed getting together with friends and family to share music, laughter and song.Some of her other favourite pastimes included jigsaw puzzles and watching wrestling with her grandson Shaun. Rosalie is survived by her sons, John (Jane), Maynard (Eunice) and Lester (Leslie); daughters, Nellie, Patricia(William) Hammond, Sharon (Albert) Miller, Elaine (Dennis) Barnaby, Bernadette (Todd), Theresa (Ronald) MacDonald and Louise; brothers, Michael, William and Peter; sisters, Ann, Mary, Lena and Helen. She will be sadly missed by her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Pat, siblings, Leo and Margaret and two grandsons in infancy, Gerard and Daniel. According to Rosalie's wishes, cremation has taken place, and a private grave side burial will take place at a later date in Resurrection Cemetery. Loretta Gielen Born In: North Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada Born: August 17th, 1952 Passed in: Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed on: December 15th, 2013 Passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013. Hard-working and a fighter to the end Loretta was known for her kindness and compassion. Always a smile on her face and a shoulder to lean on. She loved to be active and spend time with children. Loretta spent many years working with the local Beaver troop and will be affectionately remembered as 'Rainbow' to many. She is survived by her husband of 44 years Matt; two children, Josephine and Matthew and three grandchildren, Kristen, Carter and Blake; siblings, Betty (Henry) Gielen, Wally (Jeanette) Russell, Margie (Tom) Robinson, Debbie (Ward) Glogowski and sister-in-law, Valerie (Butch) Russell. As well as many nieces and nephews whom she cherished. Loretta was predeceased by her parents, Edward and Bridget (Robinson) Russell, two brothers, Butch (Edward) and William and a sister, Mary. Services to celebrate her life will be held at St Joseph's Catholic Church in Bras d'Or on Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. with a reception to follow at the church hall. Marie Mirwald Born In: Sydney Passed in: Glace Bay Passed on: December 13th, 2013 Marie Mirwald, a resident of Seaview Manor, Glace Bay, passed away Friday, Dec. 13, 2013. Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late William and Alexandra (Hoda) Rozeluk. Marie was employed for most of her life in the family business, Rozeluk's Grocery Store, located in Whitney Pier and Sydney River. She is survived by her daughter, Adrienne Cogswell (Allan MacKinnon), Leitches Creek; grandchildren, Josephine Clare, Sydney, Victoria (Michael) Donovan, Blacketts's Lake, Colleen Carey, Sydney and Maureen Clare, Sydney; 11 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Rozeluk, Sydney. Marie was predeceased by her first husband, Harry Bohaychuk; second husband, Zygmunt Mirwald; brother, Michael; and son-in-law, Philip Cogswell. Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Wednesday 1 p.m. followed by a service in the chapel at 2 p.m., with Rev. Roman Dusanowskyj officiating.
