Cape Breton Deaths FEBRUARY 04, 2019 TUESDAY There were 3 obituaries published today REBA (MACINTOSH) CASTILLO - JO ANN LATWAITIS - 62 YRS DOUGLAS “DOUGIE” SERROUL - 80 YRS REBA (MACINTOSH) CASTILLO - CASTILLO, Reba Passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 29, 2020. Reba was the beloved mother of Patrick (Kathleen), Rob (Caitlin) and Chuck (Shannon). Much loved granny of Kara, Margo, Jason and Eric. She will be missed by her brother, Tom Macintosh (Karen) and sisters, Catherine Gillis (Danny) and Marie Gill (Tom) and father of their boys, Cesar Castillo (Mayela). Reba will be missed by her many nieces, nephews, family and friends. Family will receive friends at the Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St., Guelph on Thursday, February 6, 2020 from 2-4 p.m., with a celebration of life in the funeral home chapel at 4 p.m. A reception will follow from 5-7. Born in Sydney Mines on August 19, 1957, she was the daughter of Mary Vivian (Donovan) and the late Bruno Francis Latwaitis of Sydney Mines. Jo worked at Citizenship and Immigration in Sydney and was an avid crafter; especially jewelry-making and knitting. Jo is survived by and will be deeply missed by her daughter, Jamie Sauliner (Jon); and son, Mike Sauliner. She was a loving sister, to Kevin, Stewart (Beth), Stephen (Tracy), and Karen (Mike) MacDonald; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Besides her father, she was predeceased by her paternal grandparents, Alice and William Latwaitis of Sydney Mines; and maternal grandparents, Maurice and Emma Donovan of Ingonish Beach. A special thank you to the staff at the Cape Breton Regional Cancer Center, for their gracious care and friendship throughout Jo’s treatment. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jo’s memory may be made to the Cape Breton Cancer Center. A private family service will be held at a later date. Born in Sydney Mines on April 16, 1939, he was the son of the late John and Alounda (Alderson) Serroul. He is survived by his loving wife, Yvonne (Morgan) Serroul; his daughter, Charlene, Ft. McMurray; and his son, Gerard (Crystal), Sydney Mines. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Laura Lee, Amber, Mitchell, Kayla, Chelsea Lynn, Aiden and Summer, and his sisters, Mary (Billy) Mitchelitis, Bessie Romeo, and Isabel (Rick). Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his infant son, James Douglas, and brothers, John, George and Gerald. His family would like to thank Dr. Michel McKeough and the staff of 4 West, Northside General for the care given to Dougie. There will be no visitation or service.
