The loving care provided by his family allowed Lloyd to remain comfortably at home. Born in South Bar on April 1, 1920, he was the son of the late Colin and Laura (MacIntyre) MacPhail. Lloyd was a family man with a kind nature and soft, humble demeanour, who will be remembered for his long lasting and ever present dry humour. If at any moment Lloyd wasn't joking around, he was just setting up the punch line. There are not enough words to describe how special he was to his family and many, many friends. Lloyd is survived by six daughters, Heather (Gary) Hatcher, Sydney, Bonnie MacPhail, Sydney River, Laurie (Lee) Williams, Clermont-Ferrand, France, Wendy Noble, Sydney River, Ellen deVarennes, Dartmouth and Cindy MacPhail, Westmount; three sons, Dave (Wendy), Sydney River, Kevin (Louise), Frenchvale and Lorne (Genevieve), Frenchvale; 25 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. In 1985, he retired from the Sydney Steel Corporation as a foreman in the electrical department, after 48 years of dedicated service.
