In the 1871 Census Lingan there are quite a few Young families and they are listed as Irish on the census. I noted the same thing with Daniel Young in the 1891 Census of Bras d'or...and I know for a fact he is not Irish. He comes from my LeJeune line. I am trying to puzzle this one out as in the Lingan Census there are: James and Mary Carey 30 and 40 years old respectively living with Michael Young age 72 and also William, Thomas and Alex Young living with Simon and Ellen Gothro. All the Youngs are listed as Irish. To me it seems not to be coincidental taht Careys, Gothros and Youngs are living together as they are common names in the LeJeune/Young line in Bras d'Or. Anyone out there able to clear this up for me? Are these Youngs truly Irish or is this just a census takers error...which are more common than the names together, in my humble opinion (IMHO). Thanks as always for any clarification or proof of either French/Irish ancestry. Thom
