Margaret MacDonald The funeral for the late Margaret MacDonald was cancelled yesterday due to weather conditions. The funeral service is now scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, 2014 at St. Luke’s United Church, Donkin. Margaret’s complete obituary is available at www.vjmcgillivray.ca Harriet 'Betty' MacDonald Born In: Glace Bay Born: November 29th, 1928 Passed in: Sydney Passed on: January 17th, 2014 Harriet Elizabeth 'Betty' MacDonald passed away at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on Jan. 17, 2014. Betty was born in Glace Bay on Nov. 29, 1928 to Donald John and Annie May (MacQuarrie) Buchanan. Betty is survived by her sister, Corrine Hunter; nieces, Carol, Gay and Susan. She is also survived by great-nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; as well as sisters, Arabelle and Charlotte. The family extends a special “Thank you” to the Northside Community Guest Home for their wonderful care and also a “thank you” to Catherine MacLean (her cousin) and Joann and Al McIntyre for their visits and kindness to Betty. Betty has been cremated at her request and there will be no visitation or service at this time. A graveside service will be held in the spring. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Patten funeral Home, Glace Bay. Annie Redmond Passed in: Glace Bay Passed on: January 25th, 2014 A funeral service will be held for Annie Redmond, who passed away on Dec. 20, 2013, at New Waterford Heights on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014 at 2 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel, Glace Bay, Rev. Clayton Austin will be officiating. Interment will be held in Greenwood Cemetery at a later date.
