Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held today (Jan. 10, 2014) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A funeral mass of celebration will take place Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Ave., with Fr. Ray Huntley officiating. Burial will be in St. Agnes Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at St. Leonard's Parish Hall, Convent Street, New Waterford. Robert 'Bobby' Savoy Born: April 17th, 1956 Passed in: Sydney Passed on: January 8th, 2014 The family of Robert Terrance 'Bobby' Savoy are saddened to announce his passing on Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014. Born April 17, 1956, Bobby was the son of the late Hugh and Vivian (King) Savoy. Bobby was a quiet and gentle man, always willing to give of himself while never asking for anything in return. He loved to laugh. Bobby is survived by his son, Kyle; daughters, Bonnie and Danielle; and seven grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Barbara O’Gorman, Francene (Ivan) Marche, Charlene (Buddy) McDonald, Sandy (Paul) Ranni and Joanne; brothers, Billy (Vivian), Hugh (Dianne), John (Marie), Joe (Anne) and Charlie; sister-in-law, Sharon; numerous nieces and nephews. The family would also like to acknowledge the love and care provided to Bobby by his special friend, Patti MacDonald. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Jerry; brother-in-law, Glen; and sister-in-law, Donna. Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Monday 6-9 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Church on Tuesday 11 a. m., with Rev. Duaine Devereaux officiating. Born in Cheticamp, he was a son of the late Charles and Annie (Deveaux) Deveaux. Auguste grew up in Cheticamp, he worked in the fishery industry. He liked to hunt, go for drives in his van and watch his beloved Montreal Canadiens. He also liked his fiddle music. Auguste had good friends in Cheticamp. He is survived by one sister-in-law, Vera Deveaux, Sydney; several nieces nephews; great-nieces and nephews. We would like to say a huge thank you to Denise and Jackie Poirier for their endless care with Auguste. He was predeceased by three brothers, Leo, Marcellin and Timothy; two sisters, Elizabeth MacIntosh and Margaret Mary Deveaux. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation. Condolences may be sent to [email protected] Joseph 'Terry' Gibson Born In: New Waterford Passed in: Kingston, Canada Passed on: January 8th, 2014 Joseph 'Terry' Gibson, beloved husband and father, age 64, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Jan. 8, 2014. He will be missed dearly by his wife of 37 years, Sabine (Kather) Gibson; his daughters, Milena & Suresh Srikant, Ottawa, Larissa & Paul Hanas, Toronto and his sons, Jody Gibson, Halifax and Kyron Gibson, Petawawa. Terry also leaves to mourn his sister, Lorraine & Jackie Head, River Ryan, C.B. and brother, Charlie & Georgina Gibson, Cambridge, Ont. He was predeceased by his parents, Mary Mullins & James Godfrey Gibson and two brothers, Jimmy and Greg. Terry grew up in New Waterford, Cape Breton. In 1966, he joined the Canadian Armed Forces, working first as a trooper with the RCDs, and later the Air Force as an aircraft refinishing technician. He served in various postings in Canada and overseas, Terry spent 12 years in Germany; and spoke the language fluently. While in Germany, Terry also met and married the love of his life, his wife Sabine. After serving his county for 43 years, Terry retired in Greenwood/Kingston, N.S. Terry was a kind and generous man who loved his family dearly. While his children were growing up he served as a coach in their activities, volunteering for girls and boys soccer leagues for 10 years. He was also a man of a multitude of talents, who build many beautiful pieces of furniture. He also gave generously of his time at the Kingston Food Bank and Saint Monica's Church. He was a man of deep faith, and to the end of his days he thanked God for the life and love he was given, and for his four children, each of whom he was very proud. A celebration and a memorial of Terry's life will be held at the Kingston Fire Hall on Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014, at 2 p.m. David Thomas 'Greyhound' Gray Born In: Sydney Born: January 31st, 1946 Passed in: Sydney Passed on: January 7th, 2013 We, the daughters and family of David Thomas Gray 'Greyhound', are heartbroken and saddened by the recent loss of our father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Dad passed away peacefully, Jan. 7, 2014, at the An Cala Unit, Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Dave was born in Sydney on Jan. 31, 1946, and was the eldest son of the late Earl 'Curly' and Muriel Gray. In his earlier years Dave was an exceptional baseball pitcher, playing with the State Tavern and the Sydney Mooseheads. He was an avid dart player and enjoyed playing his guitar, bingo and the casino. He was a friend of Bill W. and was very proud of his 26 years of sobriety. He was a life member of the Ashby Legion and was very active with the poppy campaign. Dave worked at the Steel Plant and retired from the City of Sydney (water department) in 1991. Dave was a humble man and was very passionate about his faith, community volunteering and his family. He was a wonderful father and an exceptional grandfather. He loved his daughters and grandchildren unconditionally. His most favourite times were spent with his family, at his bungalow at Gillis Lake, relaxing, fishing and especially the annual horseshoe tournaments. Dave is survived by his daughters, Gwen, Karrie (Kirk) Gywnn, Dianne, Amy (Jason Bonaparte), and their mother Vange Gray. He is also survived by his six grandchildren, Kelsey, Ty, Rylen, Nola, Grayson and Stevie D. and his girlfriend Doreen. Also left to mourn are his brothers, Glen (Joan), Gary and sister, Diane (Bill) Bussey. As per Dad's wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation for the late Dave Gray will be held Friday Jan. 10, 2014, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, Alexandra Street, Sydney. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. at St. Joseph Church with Fr. Bill Burke officiating. Interment at Resurrection Cemetery.
