Mr. MacDougall, 66, died Friday, January 31, 2014 at his home. Duncan was born on September 15, 1947 in Sydney, Nova Scotia, one of twelve children of the late John and Anastasia (Wall) MacDougall. He graduated from Sydney Academy and immigrated to the United States in 1970. On September 19, 1970 he married Nina G. MacNevin in the former Saint Jean's Church in Newton. The couple settled in Waltham where they have been residents since. Duncan worked for over 35 years at Millipore Corporation in Bedford, retiring in 2006. He was proud of many things in his life: his Scottish heritage, his family name and the MacDougall clan, his native Canada, his home and most especially his boys, Brian and Daniel. He was active with the Waltham Little League and the Waltham Youth Hockey Association where he coached while his boys wer e growing up. He loved to fish and take weekend trips with his family to their cottage in Alton Bay, New Hampshire and annual trips home to Sydney. He was a real down to earth and genuine guy who had a knack for remembering everyone's names. He had a terrific sense of humor and was known to many as 'Hunky Dunky' or "Mr. Mac.' In addition to his wife of forty-four years, Nina, Duncan leaves his children, Brian P. and Daniel R. MacDougall, both of Waltham; his siblings, Betty Anne Rolf of Alberta, Charles MacDougall of Kenfeld, N.S., Marilyn Redshaw, Patsy Field and Donna Martell, all of Sydney, N.S., Peter MacDougall of New Brunswick and Bonnie MacDougall of Alberta, and many nieces and nephews. In death Duncan joins his parents and his siblings, Sally Prosser, Mary McGarry, John MacDougall and Kate MacNeil. Memorial donations may be made to Waltham Youth Hockey Association, P.O. Box 540654, Waltham, MA 02454. To share a memory please visit www.joycefuneralhome.com submitted by [email protected]
