Born in Sydney Mines on Jan. 20, 1956, she was the daughter of Lorraine (Higham) and the late Ronald Ramsdale. She was a member of Wilson United Church, Florence, and was always happy with her quilting buddies; the ‘Wilson Weavers.’ She always called it her ‘therapy session,’ and had so many great laughs. Ronalda was employed for many years in Harbour View Hospital in Sydney Mines, until illness forced her to retire. Ronalda was loved by all who knew her and was a loyal friend to all. Her son Michael was her life and she and Charles spent many days cheering him on in hockey and baseball. She and Charlie looked so forward to their yearly trip down south and to relax in the sun. She was an avid Cape Breton Screaming Eagles fan and she and Charlie always held season tickets. She was so excited when in hospital she was presented with an autographed jersey from the team. Ronalda possessed an immeasurable capacity for love, compassion, understanding, generosity and friendship. She had an individually unique relationship with all her family members and her friends. Her ability to connect with all who she met, and to make them feel valuable and loved, was revered by many including her entire family and those in her many circles of friends. Left to mourn her passing is her loving husband, Charles and her son, Michael, Edmonton; she also leaves behind her loving mother, Lorraine (Ramsdale) Nicholson; her sister, Trudy (Frank) Herritt; stepsisters, Lenore Pardy, Sally Popovich and stepbrother, Nick Nicholson; brothers-in-law, Paul (Mary Louise), Jimmy (Carolyn) and Bernie (Vicki); sisters-in-law, Bernette, Judy, Brenda and Karen; her Aunt Sylvia (Michael) MacMullin, Uncle Harry (Lorraine) Higham, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Also missing her is her furbaby, Zoe. Ronalda held her niece, Tanya (Jason) Clarkson and her nephew, Steven Herritt, as if they were her own children. Her great-niece, Michaela and great-nephews, Aubrey, Ashton and Ashley were always ‘Aunt Auda’s' babies. She was predeceased by her father, Ronald Ramsdale, stepfather, Roddie Nicholson and sister, Jackie in 1954. Visitation for Ronalda Bowne was held in J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines, on Sunday, Feb. 23, 2014, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A celebration of her life will take place today (Monday) at 2 p.m. in Wilson United Church, Florence, with Dianne Kempt DLM and Rev. "To those I love The only thing between us Whether we are big or small Is a tiny little heartbeat Just a heartbeat - that is all So when you’re sad and lonely And my death seems so unfair You will always hear me whisper 'Touch your heart, you’ll find me there'.”
