Cape Breton Deaths courtesy of CAPE BRETON GENEALOGY & HISTORICAL ASSOCIATION VISIT OUR WEBSITE - <http://www.cbgen.org/>www.cbgen.org NEW MEMBERS WELCOME Inverness Oran Deaths February 26, 2014 Wednesday There were obituaries published this week Stella Bourgeois - 79 yrs Douglas John MacIsaac - 90 yrs BOURGEOIS Stella Bourgeois, 70, Grand Etang, Inverness, died February 14th, 2014 in Sacred Heart Community Health Centre, Cheticamp. Born in Cheticamp, she was a daughter of the late Louis and Henriette Anne (LeBlanc) Delaney. Stella was a nursing graduate of L’Hôpital Hôtel Dieu, in Campbellton, N.B. She was past director of nursing at Foyer Père Fiset in Cheticamp. She also taught at the former Collège de l’Acadie. Stella was a dedicated volunteer and served on many committees. She was involved with La Fédération des Femmes Acadiennes de la N.-É. and locally with l’Association des Acadiennes which provided her the opportunity to promote her defence of women’s rights. She is survived by her husband, Roger Bourgeois; son Aaron, Dartmouth; sister-in-law Dora Delaney, Grand Etang. She was predeceased by brother Clifford Delaney. Visitation was held at Cheticamp Funeral Home. Funeral service was held at Cheticamp Funeral Home with Father Doug MacDonald officiating, burial in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, St. Joseph du Moine. Donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice. Condolences may be sent to: [email protected] MacISAAC Douglas John MacIsaac, Corner Brook, NL, passed peacefully February 19th, 2014, surrounded by his loving family at the palliative care unit at Western Memorial Hospital. Loved and respected by many, he will be forever missed for his kind gentle ways. Born on November 12th, 1923, he was predeceased by his parents, Dan R. and Mary Patricia McIsaac (Ryan); brothers James (Margaret) and Daniel; sisters Anne (Red) and Christine (Bill); his lifelong best friend and aunt Betty (Dan Joe). Leaving to mourn: his loving wife of 61 years, Catherine J. (Murphy); sons Paul (Cynthia) Douglas Jr.; Thomas (Bev) and daughter Michelle (Martin); grandchildren DJ (Susan), Jonathan (Shea), Catherine (Edward), Katelyn, Scott and great-grandchildren Zurich and Emma; and several nieces and nephews residing in the United States and Nova Scotia. He leaves a large circle of friendships held for many years including his best buds: Bill, Ed, Jim, Kev, Pat, Purc and Roy. Doug was a proud graduate of St. Francais Xavier University and an avid curler for over 50 years, skipping his way to many bonspiels. Doug also remained an avid walker until the very end with his closest walking companion: his dog, Toby, for 11 years. He shared his love of sports and politics with his children, and his family always remained his most prized possession. Cremation has taken place under the care of Fillatres Funeral Home, and visitations were held Friday, February 21st. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass was held Saturday, February 22nd at 10:30 a.m. at the Cathedral of the Most Holy Redeemer on Mount Bernard Ave. with Father Ed Terry officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name can be made to the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Foundation and/or the Bay of Islands SPCA’s New Shelter Fund. The family guest book may be signed, or a memorial donation may be made through our website www.fillatre.ca.
