Born Sept 11th, 1915 in Port Hastings, she was the daughter of Archie J. and Agnes Elizabeth MacIsaac. She married Lauchie MacMaster of Hays River and lived there until they moved to Long Island, New York in 1960. After her husband’s death Jean returned to her Cape Breton roots and settled in her new mini home in Port Hood. Her cheerful disposition and generous nature soon endeared her to all who made her acquaintance. Countless persons benefitted from her material and spiritual generosity. Jean retained her joyful outlook and sharp mind right up to the end. She loved to drive her car, and not too many people were able to pass her on Route 19. A lover of dogs, Jean’s faithful companions Ginger and Lucky held a special place in her heart. Jean’s strong and orthodox faith was an inspiration to all. A faithful member of St. Peter’s Parish, she made a point of being in church early so that she had time to say her Rosary before mass. When it was no longer possible for her to get to church she followed daily mass and devotions on EWTN television. Jean is survived by her son Joe and his wife Joan, granddaughter Susan, grandson Steven and wife Wendy, and great-grandsons Zachary and Eric. Visitation will be at the Port Hood and Area Resting Place on Thursday, February 6th, 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 7th with Father Vincent vanZutphen, celebrant; burial at a later date in West Lake Ainslie. Donations may be made to Immaculate Conception Cemetery fund, West Lake Ainslie. On-line condolences may be made to www.invernessfuneralhome.com.
