He was born and raised in Dingwall, where he resided most of his life, having left for only a short period of time, residing in Dartmouth and Ontario. In his younger years, Stephen was an avid boxer with a very impressive record in the ring. However, his career in boxing was cut short due to a car accident which left him paralyzed. He was told that he would never walk again but with the heart and determination of a boxer he did walk again without assistance, although later in life he was once again confined to a wheelchair. Stephen never lost his love for boxing and over the years he trained many young men, and women from Dingwall and surrounding arrears. He was recognized by the Nova Scotia Boxing Association and invited to many of their events. As a young man Stephen met and married the love of his life, Carolyn Fraser. He was a die hard Habs fan, and no one could win an argument with him dealing with politics. Stephen also had a great love for traditional music and was especially fond of listening to laments played on fiddle and highland bagpipes. Everyone knew Stephen in the small community of Dingwall and helped him out many times. We know he would like to say thank you, especially to his ‘Buddies’. There was also another side to Stephen: his strong faith and knowledge of scripture. It was rare for him to miss watching mass on TV. It was his strong faith that seen him through many hardships. Stephen is survived by three sisters and one brother; Pauline Chubbs, Dingwall; Christena Lewis, Edwardsville; Ruth Brock, Ontario and Alex (Shirley) MacEachern, Baddeck; sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins. Stephen was predeceased by his wife, Carolyn (Fraser) MacEachern; parents, Augustine and Maggie MacEachern; sisters, Kay Dunphy, Jessie Fitzgerald; brothers, John William, Archie, Douglas, Russell, Michael and Dukie MacEachern. We would like to extend sincere thanks to all home care workers. Visitation for the late Mr. MacEachern will take place at St. Joseph’s Church, Dingwall on Sunday, Feb. 16 from 7-9 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday at 2 p.m. with Fr. Jake Andrea officiating. Online condolences may be sent by visiting www.fillmoreandwhitman.com. “Lord Jesus, of you I will sing as I journey.” Charles Moore Born In: Sydney Born: January 11th, 1951 It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of a loving soul mate, devoted father, doting Grampy, and faithful brother, Charles Moore. Born in Sydney, Jan. 11, 1951, he was the son of the late Fred and Irene (Sheppard) Moore. Charlie passed away at the Toronto General Hospital while awaiting a lifesaving lung transplant for Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. Although our miracle was not to be, he never gave up his valiant fight to the very end. In his earlier years, he was a member of the LIU, Local 1115, working on many construction projects in the Cape Breton area prior to relocating to Ottawa where he was employed until he retired in 2012 due to ill health. He was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman who took great enjoyment in life’s simpler pleasures, displayed great pride in his building projects, was an accomplished cook, but lived to tease his grandchildren. No problem was ever too big or too small for him to solve and his advice was dispensed with great modesty. Left to mourn his passing is his wife of 40 years, Kenna (MacLeod); his son, Jason (Sophie Lafontaine), Ottawa; daughter, Jennifer (Sean) Forrester, Oshawa, and his 10 grandchildren who, to him, were his pots of gold at the end of the rainbow — Brian, Bailey, Devon, Anabelle, Jordan, Calum, Sam, Teagan, Owen and Charlie. He is also survived by sisters, Christine (John) White, U.K., Donna (John) Landry, Nancy (Jackie) Polegato; brothers, Wayne (Shirley), George (Lorraine); sister-in-law, Marilyn and by numerous nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Walter. He will be missed by his faithful companion, Maggie. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, Feb. 15 with visitation from 1-3 p.m. at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, Alexandra Street, with a memorial service immediately following. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to the Toronto General & Western Hospital Foundation, Lung Transplant Program, R. Fraser Elliott Building, 190 Elizabeth St., 5th Floor, Toronto, Ont., M5G 2C4, or the Lung Association of N.S., 6331 Lady Hammond Road, Suite 200, Halifax, N.S., B3K 2S2. "Grief never ends, but it changes. It’s a passage, not a place to stay. Grief is not a sign of weakness, nor a lack of faith ... It is the price of love."
