Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Mary (Murrin) and Lawrence Aucoin.Leonard was an avid member of St Anthony’s parish, Glace Bay. He was a member of Paschendaele and Caledonia Dart Leagues. He enjoyed his weekly dart meets. He enjoyed riding his bike daily. He was also a member of the Canadian Blood Donor Clinic for 12 years. He was a true Toronto Maple Leafs fan. He decorated his basement to show his loyalty to his team. He is survived by brothers, Blair (Sheila), Glace Bay, Art (Karen), Dominion; sisters, Marguerite (Dave) Wilson, Boston, Yvonne Ludlow, Ontario, Barbara MacDougall, Donna (Nick) Bonnar, Debbie Burke, Colleen (Kenny) Wadden, Glace Bay, Laura Vaters, Donkin; brother-in-law, Bud Simpson, Ontario; and a great number of nieces and nephews; friend, Stevie Vaters. Besides his parents he was predeceased by sisters, Joanie and Carol, brother, Lawrence (Sonny), brothers-in-law, Archie Ludlow, Robbie Vaters and Donnie Burke. Visitation will be on Thursday, Feb. 6, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Curry’s Funeral Home, 775 Main St., Glace Bay. A funeral mass will be celebrated Friday, Feb. 7 at 11 a.m. in Holy Cross Church. Blanche Abbott Born In: Bonavista, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada Passed in: Amherst, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed on: February 2nd, 2014 Blanche Elsie Abbott, a resident of Gables Lodge, Amherst (formerly, Taylor St., Whitney Pier), passed away Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014, at Cumberland County Regional Hospital, Amherst, N.S. Born in Bonavista, Nfld., she was the daughter of the late Harry and Deborah (Fleming) Etsell. Blanche was employed as housemother for the Sydney City Hospital School of Nursing. Following her retirement as housemother, she went to work at the Cape Breton Regional Vocational School, Sydney. Surviving are her daughter, April (Robert) Moore, Port Hastings and grandsons, Kyle and Jordan. Blanche was predeceased by her husband, Albert in 2008. Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Friday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A memorial service will be held in the chapel on Saturday 11 a.m., with Rev. Eugene Fisher officiating. Interment in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens at a later date. Dearly loved father of Amanda Pyke (Paul), Tanya Pyke (Aaron) and Adria Taylor (Michael). Devoted grandpa of Elisabeth, Chloé and Aiden. Dear brother of Joey Pyke, David Pyke (Lynda), Cathy Bisson (Bobby), Ernie Pyke (Debbie) and Darren Pyke. Ed was predeceased by his parents Alexander and Pat Pyke. Ed spent over 30 years working for the Canadian Armed Forces. Memorial service will be celebrated at the 22 Wing Chapel (29 Sterling Ave) on Friday at 12 noon. A gathering will follow at the All Ranks (Blue Room) from 1 - 4 p.m. Interment will take place in Glace Bay Nova Scotia in the summer of 2014.
