Hello I realize this isn't related to Acadian Genealogy but I was looking information on a couple by the name of Hugh Gillis and Isabella Gillis. A few of their children were baptized at the church in L'Ardoise and to my knowledge they lived around St Peters. Their son Dan lived at Barra Head where his mother died in 1916. Apparently she was born at Grand Mira. Dan their son was married to a Catherine Gillis from Cape Breton Co. I do have information on her family. A daughter of Hugh and Isabella named Jessie Belle Gillis was married to Joe MacDougall from Grand Mira. Joe MacDougall had Gillis ancestors as well. I have been trying to determine who Isabella's parents and siblings were. Also trying to determine what area of Scotland Hugh originated from and if he had family in Cape Breton.
