Baxter Wiseman - Hubert Austin LeBlanc - 97 yrs Thomas Gerald Farrell - Brian Gillis - 73 yrs Theresa Meleta King Born In: Bras d'Or Passed in: Boularderie Passed on: March 19th, 2014 It is with heartfelt sadness we announce the sudden passing of our beloved sister Theresa Meleta King, after a short illness, on Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at the Victoria General Hospital in Halifax. Born and raised in Bras d’Or, the daughter of the late Leonard and Mary Ida (Cantwell) King. Meleta taught school there for 38 years. She was an avid gardener and loved to travel with her younger sister Coletta. She was a member of St. Joseph Church, Bras d’Or. Meleta is survived by her sisters, Gloria Nicholson, Claudia (Earl) Warhus, Miriam (Thomas) Boudreau, all of Bras d’Or, Celesta (Nelson) Johnston, North Sydney, Monica (David) Beaton, Scotch Lake, Coletta, Halifax; and her brothers, Damian (Carol), P.E.I.., Wayne (Ann Marie), North Sydney, Paul (Patricia), Southside Boularderie, Kennedy (Julia), Scotch Lake, and Chickie (Linda), Bras d’Or; her brother-in-law, Danny Handley and sister-in-law, Cathy (Marsh) King. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews, aunts and uncles. Meleta shared fun and good times with life time friends Marg MacEachern and Colleen Musgrave. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother Pius King, an infant brother Gerard, her sister Audrey, niece Jacklyn Nicholson, nephews, Gerard King, Roger Warhus and Tyler MacMullin and brother-in-law John Nicholson. Visitation for Meleta will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today (Friday) in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at St. Joseph Church with Rev. Peter McLeod officiating. Burial in St. Joseph Parish Cemetery, Bras d’Or, at a later date. James 'Scooter' MacDonald Born In: Sydney Passed in: Sydney Passed on: March 19th, 2014 It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Jim MacDonald on Wednesday, March, 19, 2014, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Daniel and Mary (MacLean) MacDonald. He was employed with the Sydney Engineering and Dry Docks until his retirement. He enjoyed playing the guitar for the cruise ships, he enjoyed gardening and hunting. He was a member of the United Church of Canada. Jim is survived by his children, Daniel and Rod (Julie), both of Sydney, Alonzo (Lucy) Halifax, Rosena, Bedford, Catherine, Antigonish; three wonderful grandchildren, Amy Jean, Emily and Olivia. He is also survived his sister, Carol (Basil) Rannie, Sydney; two nieces, Shauna and Erin, nephews, Johnny and Martin. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Edith (Ginter) MacDonald (2010), sister, Jean Musgrave, brother, Gordon. Visitation will be held today (Friday, March 21, 2014) at the S.W. Winifred 'Beth' Dedieu Born In: Calgary, Alberta, Canada Passed in: 2014/03/19, Canada It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of Winifred 'Beth' Dedieu on Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at the Glace Bay Hospital. Born in Calgary Alta., she was the daughter of the late Reginald and Kay (Collard) Leonard. Beth enjoyed baking and was well known to all for her delicious treats. Beth also enjoyed spending time with her family and also her favourite pass time bingo. Beth is survived by her children, Wendy Jensen, Gordon, Tom (Shauna), Michelle (John), Glenn (Rose Nina), Chantelle (Dr. Steve) Patten and A.J (Allison); sisters, Sylvia, Beverly and Faye; 15 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband Andre and her loving son Leonard. Baxter Wiseman loving husband and father, grandfather and great-grandfather announce his passing on Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Pallative Care, with all his family by his side. Born in Glace Bay, N.S., Baxter was the son of the late Levi Wiseman and Eliza. Besides his parents, Baxter was predeceased by his brother, Bill Wiseman. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Mary (O’Connell) of Glace Bay and his five children, Shirley Kressner, Bridgewater N.S, Bernice Addezi, Lancaster, Ont., David (Nangmalik) Wiseman, Rankin Inlet, Kim (Francis), Glace Bay, N.S., Glen Wiseman, Rankin Inlet and sister, Marion, Sydney, N.S. Baxter will be loveingly remembered by his 15 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Hubert LeBlanc Born In: Margaree Passed in: Cheticamp Passed on: March 20th, 2014 Hubert Austin LeBlanc, 97, of Foyer Père Fiset, Cheticamp, formerly of Margaree, passed away on March 20, 2014 at Sacred Heart Community Health Centre, Cheticamp. Born in Margaree, he was the son of the late Simon and Mary (LeBlanc) LeBlanc. Hubert joined the armed forces in 1943 and served until his discharge in 1946. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #32, Cheticamp. He worked as a coal miner for over 40 years in Northern Ontario, Quebec, New Waterford and for many years at Evans Coal Mine in St. Rose, Inverness County. Hubert was known as a hard worker. He overcame many health issues throughout his lifetime, but remained physically strong and independent till his 97th year. A devoted husband, father and grandfather, he was known for his sense of humour and sense of style. He loved to spend time fishing on the Margaree River, enjoying a good meal, sitting in the sun admiring the view and welcoming people to his home. He is survived by one son, Hubert Jr. (Pauline), Milton, Ont.; one daughter, Sylvia (Kenneth) Crowdis, Sydney River; three grandchildren, Steven LeBlanc, Milton, Ont., Robert LeBlanc (Katherine), Toronto, Ont. and Suzanne Crowdis (Paul Knight), Ottawa, Ont. He was predeceased by his wife of 69 years, Margaret (Muise) in August 2013; one brother, Simon Joseph and five sisters, Lucy, Emma, Alice, Mary Ellen and Phyllis. There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. Funeral mass will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. in St. Michael Church, East Margaree. Interment in the parish cemetery. Donations may be made to Foyer Père Fiset.
