Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Dennis and Lois (MacKenzie) Fougere. Isabel was employed for 28 years in the dietary department, working at Breton Bay and Harbourstone. She was a self-taught crafter and guitarist, avid bingo player, and a great singer. She enjoyed going dancing with Claude. Isabel spent vacations travelling to spend time with her precious grandchildren. Isabel is survived by her partner and best friend, Claude Shepherd; her daughters, Dawn-Marie (Shannon) Mackie, Edmonton, Alta., Wanda MacEachern, Westmount, Elaine (Jim) Janson, Halifax; her stepchildren, Charles (Heather) Shepherd, Terry (Angel) Shepherd and 12 grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Aubrey, Noreen, Wayne, Karen, Della, Dennis, Heather, Norman, William, Paul and Wendy as well as many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will take place 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 12 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating. Interment to follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks. Donations may be made to your charity of choice. The family would like to thank Isabel’s sister Karen for always being there for her, Dr. John Kirkpatrick and the nurses of 4W for their care given to Isabel during her stay at the Northside General Hospital. Margaret Frances Cameron Sullivan Born: March 18th, 1950 Passed in: Sydney Passed on: March 8th, 2014 It is with broken hearts, that we announce the passing of Margaret Frances Cameron Sullivan, 63, Sydney. Margie passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2014, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital after a courageous battle with ALS. Born in Sydney, on March, 18, 1950, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Margaret (MacNeil) Cameron. Margie will be remembered as a kind, caring person who truly loved her family and many close friends with all her heart. Margie is survived by her brothers, Joseph (Marie) Cameron, Eugene/Mack (Florence) MacNeil and Robert (Jean) MacNeil; one sister, Rebecca (Malcolm/Sonny) MacAulay, as well as several nephews, nieces and very dear friends. Besides her parents, Margie was predeceased by her husband, Percy Joseph 'JoJo' Sullivan, sisters, Annie Mae Pothier, Catherine Tran, Lillian Moules and Rose Foster; brothers, John D. MacNeil, George MacNeil, Harry B. MacNeil, Ronald MacNeil and Ellsworth MacNeil. Cremation has taken place. Stella Crawford Born In: Alder Point Born: May 28th, 1931 Passed in: Sydney Mines Passed on: March 6th, 2014 We regret to announce the sudden passing of our dear mother Stella Crawford, on Thursday, March 6, 2014,at the Northside General Hospital. She was born May 28, 1931, in Alder Point. Stella was the daughter of the late Philip and Martha Payne. She was a member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church. Stella is survived by her husband Keith Crawford; sons, Clifford (Donna) O’Toole, St. Catharines, Ont., Paul (Elaine) O’Toole, North Sydney, Raymond (Sharon) MacLean, North Sydney; brothers, George (Joyce) Payne, North Sydney, Alden LeBlanc, St. Catharines, Ont., John LeBlanc, St. Catherines, Ont., James ‘Sprikles’ LeBlanc, North Sydney. Also surviving are numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild and nieces and nephews. Stella was predeceased by her first husband, Lloyd O’Toole, sisters, Francis and Sarah. By request there will be no visitation, cremation has taken place under the direction of Fillmore & Whitman Funeral Home, 10 Clyde Ave., Sydney Mines. Linda Elaine MacLeod Born In: New Waterford Passed in: New Waterford Passed on: March 8th, 2014 With heavy hearts, the family of Linda MacLeod, regret to announce her passing on Saturday, March 8, 2014, at the An Cala Palliative Care Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Linda passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in New Waterford, Linda was the daughter of the late Jim and Tena (Campbell) Crombie. Before retirement Linda was employed with the town of New Waterford and later the CBRM for 37 years. She was a member of Calvin United Church and was a member of Calvin UCW. Linda will also be missed by her little pug, ‘Carlin’, sitting in her chair with her watching her favourite baseball team the Toronto Blue Jays. Linda is survived by her loving husband, Frank of 48 years. Also surviving are sons, Parker, Langley, B.C. ,and Scott (Carolann), New Waterford. Linda (Nana) was also blessed with two granddaughters, Stephanie and Kristen, whom she cherished and adored. Linda is also survived by her brother, David 'Woody' (Phyllis) Crombie and their son, Tyler, Lingan; her sisters-in-law, Carmen Matheson and Valerie Chiasson, who were more like sisters to her, both of Sydney. Linda was predeceased by her parents and her brother, Bill. The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses, staff and volunteers at the Cancer Centre, CBRH and the AnCala Palliative Care Unit. Your exceptional care and compassion will always be remembered. As requested, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. Funeral service will be held at Calvin United Church, Hudson Street, New Waterford with Rev. Duncan Roach officiating on Tuesday at 2 p.m. followed by a reception in the church. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to V.J McGillivray Funeral Home, New Waterford. Burial at Forest Haven Memorial Gardens at a later date. Christina 'Loretta' MacNeil Born In: Sydney Mines Passed in: Halifax, Canada Passed on: March 3rd, 2014 Died peacefully at her home on March 7, 2014, in Halifax after a long struggle with Alzheimers. She was born to Joseph and Christie Ann (Jobes) MacNeil and grew up on Convent Street in Sydney Mines. She was always very proud of her Celtic heritage. Her long nursing career started in 1951, when she graduated from St. Joseph Hospital in Glace Bay and continued for many years at the Halifax Infirmary until her retirement. She found her time at staff health the most rewarding. Loretta was the last surviving member of her family, having been predeceased by Lawrence, Bernard, Michael, Mary, Sister Ann Mary, Theresa, and Camillus. She will be fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews and their extended families. Visitation will be held at Francis Funeral Home in Sydney Mines today (Monday March 10, 2014) from 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday March 11 at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Parish (the former St. Pius X Church) Main Street, Sydney Mines with Fr. Thomas John officiating. Internment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer's Society, in Loretta's memory, would be greatly appreciated. Special thanks to her Newfoundland Ladies, Bride and Doreen, and also Marg, Dr. Tilley, her Heatherwood Court friends, Anita and all the team at Continuing Care. Thank you all for your kindness.
